It’s the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. The plight of the #PalestineRefugees remains the longest unresolved refugee crisis in the world. In the past year #Gaza has experienced the most intense bombardment of a civilian population since World War II. #CeasefireNow

UNRWA was established to provide assistance and protection to #PalestineRefugees pending a just and lasting solution to their plight. Our mandate is both humanitarian and development, and for the past 75 years we have provided quality education and healthcare. UNRWA brings free basic education to more than half a million girls and boys in 700 schools across the region. Today UNRWA alumni are everywhere—in hospitals, research labs, universities, and even at NASA. UNRWA also provides comprehensive primary healthcare to millions of #PalestineRefugees across the region. #UNRWAworks

After weeks of uncertainty and fear due to the escalation in violence in #Lebanon, families are now leaving UNRWA emergency shelters as the ceasefire takes hold. The humanitarian needs among the community remain very high and the Agency is committed to keep providing essential services to #PalestineRefugees in areas where it is operating.

Our latest on the situation in the📍#GazaStrip and the📍#WestBank 🔹@UNFPA reports that there are around 50,000 pregnant women in Gaza, with 4,000 deliveries expected in the next month alone. Approximately 15,000 of them are likely to be on the verge of famine. 🔹Heavy rains hit the Gaza Strip on 25 November, further worsening living conditions for displaced people amid limited humanitarian response capacities. 🔹According @un_OCHA, as of 22 November, 2024 has become the deadliest year on record for humanitarian personnel, with 281 personnel killed globally.  Most of them were UNRWA staff killed in the Gaza Strip. https://lnkd.in/dQPP9k_t

Out of the 91 attempts the United Nations has made to deliver aid to besieged north #Gaza between 6 October and 25 November, 82 have been denied and 9 impeded. The conditions for survival are diminishing for the 65,000-75,000 people estimated to remain there. #CeasefireNow

As winter sets in and the war continues in #Gaza, displaced Palestinians are increasingly vulnerable. Heavy rains cause flooding in the makeshift camps where thousands have taken shelter. Many children have no shoes or warm clothes. The needs are desperate. #CeasefireNow
