460,000 women drop out of Japan’s workforce every year due to #menopause. The country loses $12 billion annually on account of women underperforming, not showing up for work, or quitting their jobs because of menopause-related symptoms. Across East Asia — home to some of the world’s fastest-aging economies — numbers like these are becoming difficult to ignore. Spurred on by economic risks, governments and businesses in #Japan, #Singapore and #SouthKorea are rushing to close the “menopause health gap” — a global lack of data, care & investment surrounding female reproductive aging. In Asia, that gap is exacerbated by a historic under-representation of Asian women in clinical studies & a longstanding social taboo around women’s reproductive health.
