Sumitomo Corporation's Track Record of Geothermal Power Projects.   #SumitomoCorporation group has established a solid track record in the #GeothermalPower generation field.  We have been involved in 33 projects in 8 countries, supplying equipment and EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) with a total generation capacity of 2,700 megawatts ̶ equivalent to 17% of the global market share in geothermal power generation capacity.   Our strengths lie in delivering stable energy solutions through our strong partnership with FUJI ELECTRIC CO., LTD.（富士電機株式会社）, a leading manufacturer of steam turbines for geothermal power plants. Through our extensive experience of working in challenging geothermal environments, we have developed a deep understanding of local communities and can provide tailored project #management.   In #Indonesia alone, we have been involved in a total of 12 projects (with a total power generation capacity of approximately 900 megawatts) for equipment supply and EPC, which accounts for approximately 40% of the country's total geothermal power generation capacity.  We continue to contribute to the Indonesian government's geothermal energy development plan.   Furthermore, in 2011, we participated in the Muara Laboh geothermal power project in Indonesia as an Independent Power Producer (IPP) from the initial stages of the project, taking on the role of owner of the generating facility to continuously supply electricity.   Leveraging our extensive experience in geothermal EPC and the expertise gained from other IPP projects, we successfully commenced commercial operations of the project in 2019.   We are currently advancing the expansion project of the Muara Laboh geothermal power project and developing other new geothermal power projects in Indonesia.   Sumitomo Corporation is committed to advancing the #future of #SustainableEnergy through both EPC projects and IPP projects.

Tokyo Metro and Sumitomo Corporation to be part of consortium to operate UK’s Elizabeth line Sumitomo Corporation and Tokyo Metro Co., Ltd. have been awarded the right by Transport for London to operate the Elizabeth line in London with The Go-Ahead Group Limited The Go-Ahead Group , the operator of the UK's largest railway network. The companies will participate in the operation of the railway from May 2025. The Elizabeth line is one of the UK's busiest routes, which connects Heathrow Airport in the west of London with the east through central London. This project will be the first time that Tokyo Metro and Sumitomo Corporation will jointly operate an overseas railway business. 🚃Southern Extension of Manila LRT Line 1 in the Philippines Opens🚃   We’re excited to announce that the southern extension (approximately 6.6 km) of the LRT Line 1 in Manila, Philippines, officially opened on November 16, 2024. A ceremonial inauguration, hosted by the Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., was held on November 15 in celebration of the opening.   Sumitomo Corporation took a stake in the operation of Manila’s LRT Line 1 (Light Railway Manila Corporation, “LRMC”) in 2020, with the goal of strengthening the public transportation network in Manila metropolitan area to address severe traffic congestion. Since May 2024, Hankyu Corporation (Hankyu, one of the large private railway operators in Japan) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) have joined the project, contributing their strengths and expertise to enhance the convenience and safety of LRT Line 1 to the Japanese standard quality.   The newly extended section features five new stations (Redemptorist – Aseana Station, MIA Road Station, PITX Station, Ninoy Aquino Avenue Station, and Dr. Santos (formerly Sucat) Station.), greatly improving access from southern Manila metropolitan area (Cavite Province). Additionally, a new station directly connects to a large bus terminal, enhancing access to the Manila Bay development area and all terminals of Ninoy Aquino International Airport. The collaboration of Sumitomo Corporation, Hankyu, and JICA has led to improved service, allowing for smooth and comfortable travel without the worry of traffic congestion.   Sumitomo Corporation, Hankyu, and JICA, together with LRMC will continue to strengthen the transportation network in the Manila metropolitan area to improve the living environment and reduce economic losses.
