Outstanding pool and restaurant the service across the board was exceptional. My only recommendation would be for the gym to be open a little later on the weekends as 5pm is very early and we often missed the opportunity to use the facilities. Perhaps they close at 6 and close a little earlier during the week as the gym was very quiet at 9pm during the week
The rooms were spacious. The staff was super friendly and the food was amazing and I enjoyed the buffet breakfast as there was a variety to pick from. The pap and vleis was my most favourite meal and Innocent the barman made our visit to the bar a memorable one.
By far, the best 5 star service that you will find in Johannesburg. The staff alone are professional enough for you to be motivated for your stay. The greeting from some of the first class managers including Bella, and Dingaan was exceptional! Then, we had a birthday trip planned, the senior manager Monica had arranged some incredible welcome surprises, and that just made the trip that much more enjoyable. Next, the restaurant, was busy from day through the night, with the best food, and I can tell you they had some excellent vegetarian options. Anywhere that we wanted to go, the staff were always on hand to accommodate with excellent service. I will be making another trip before the end of the year, it was that good. Bravo to all the staff also including Londiwe - Front office manager Tshaka - Restaurant Manager Chris - Bellman Kenneth - Security Ntando - Bellman
This hotel was the worst experience of all my travels. I was travelling for business and my partner and I were going onto Pilanesberg for a few days safari. On checking in, the room we have booked was not available. The new room was much smaller. I left my partner while I went to a business meeting. She thought the bed smelt and on stripping back the sheet, she found the mattress protector was badly stained. The mattress itself even worse. Housekeeping came and changed all the bedding and turned the mattresses over. The room contained a dangerously positioned TV in a wooden enclosure with a sharp corner at eye level in the main walkway of the bedroom. The width of the walkway, (which formed the main direction of escape from the room) was made very narrow by the TV enclosure. During the first night, my partner got up in the early hours of the morning to go to the bathroom. The beside light was inoperative. In traversing the narrow section to get past the end of the bed, hit her eye on the corner of the TV enclosure. The collision broke the skin on her eyebrow which within 24 hours turned to a black eye. The hotel did not offer any first aid and responded by sticking some foam on the dangerous corners of the TV enclosure. They refused to offer another room. We asked to speak with the manager or the owner. After 2 days of asking the manager turned up and was the same person that purports to be the chef and the guy that fixed the light in our room. His name is Dario. Hostile from the start, he said it was not the hotel’s responsibility to provide first aid, he threateningly told my (female) partner to “get out of his space otherwise he would not be responsible for his actions” and said that if we did not pay the bill immediately, he would have his private security firm, throw us out. After insisting on getting an accident report, we paid the bill and left the following morning frightened and upset. As for the food, on the first night my partner wanted to try the tasting menu. That in itself was a challenge. The waiter told us the chef, (presumably the manager and maintenance man, Dario ) insisted that the whole table must have the same, yet if my business colleague and I moved to another table, my partner could have the tasting menu - go figure! We eventually persuaded him otherwise. The quality was at best amateurish and far short of the hotel claims. The chef claims to be self-taught and it shows. The scallops were not seared and drowned in herbs that completely overpowered their delicate flavour. The other courses in the tasting menu were little better. My business partner had a main course risotto that was so small he had to order another one. Breakfast was terible too. The omelette came out like a pizza, ingredients placed on top of hard, rubbery egg. There are much better hotels in the area. This is definitely one to avoid.
We stayed at this beautiful hotel for 4 nights. We were extremely pleased to have had a lovely place to rest after crossing the Namibia desert and enjoying safaris. Our room was very spacious and comfortable, with excellent bedding. The balcony was just a wonderful place to rest, read and enjoy cups of tea and coffee. Breakfast was excellent with loads of choice. Michelle is just a very considerate, extremely helpful and gracious hostess; her staff are excellent, very helpful and professional. We have seen very good reviews about this hotel, but what we experienced surpassed our expectations. We do recommend to anyone, that appreciates lovely things in life, without hesitation.
ゲゲストMy husband and me, we traveled to ZA for the first time. Our first stop was at The Ashford guesthouse. That was actually a perfect choice! :-) I really loved their fittings and furnishings on the whole property. Everything was so lovely! We stayed there for 4 nights. The staff has been unbelievable great, too! As we are booth vegans, it was difficult to find the right accommodation. But the guesthouse staff is open minded to create a vegan breakfast every morning. It was delicious! The situation of the guesthouse is good, as you have the chance to walk to the Rosebank Mall close by. There, you can find lots of shops and restaurants. All in all, we definitely recommend this place! As we won’t make it to the Kruger NP this time, we definitely have to come back and we’ll book this guesthouse again! :-) Thanks for everything!
DDeborah-AnneI have stayed at the Quatermain before, and I am happy to say that the whole experience was once again just lovely! I had arrived VERY early on my check-in day and the staff made sure that I had a room well before the scheduled check-in time AND they upgraded me too!
The staff at the hotel are friendly, helpful and all round just a delight!! Even with the ongoing challenges that loadshedding (scheduled power outtages) brings to the smooth operation of any business.
The gardens are immaculate and tranquil, and it is unbelievable to think you are in the middle of everything with the peace and quiet that pervades.
The little bistro / restaurant's menu is thankfully limited, as it means that the quality can be assured and anything that is made tastes deliciously homemade. The evening buffet is very good value for money!
Just a small note that due to loadshedding, sometimes the email/booking system gives some issues - so don't forget to just follow up once booked :)
Location is right at the heart of SANDTON. 6mins drive from Mandela Square and SandTon City Mall. No load shedding, fast internet, privacy. Honestly everything was nice during our stay in Sandhurst, we truly enjoyed our stay over there ( 1 month ). The receptionist who attended to us on our first day of arrival was very helpful. Melissa Thank you
Mmokomoko13The staff are great, very accommodating, and very engaging. They are also very concerned of my safety (they always remind me to take care when going out).
Saying that, the location might be challenging for those who are mindful of their safety. I am advised not to leave after dark, even just going to KFC which is just 300 meters away (I appreciate the concern of the staff). No wifi too.
