About us

Activate Action is a youth-led organization working with vulnerable young people including young people living with HIV and Disabilities and Gender minorities. The organization started as a youth-friendly Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights center in 2017 and was later registered as a community-based organization in 2020, with registration number CBO/HUD/HB/0098/2020 working within Homabay county. Our Mission To build an inclusive social environment for young people living with HIV and disability and gender minority Our Vision Empowered stigma-free society Our programs area/ Thematic areas 1. Street business school. The aim of this program is to strengthen household social-economic by coaching and mentoring vulnerable young women and teenage mothers on entrepreneurship skills including bookkeeping, table banking, soup-making among others. 2. Comprehensive sexuality education in school and outside schools. To strengthen the capacity of adolescent boys, girls, and young women to access and advocate for the enjoyment and fulfillment of their reproductive health and rights 3. Mental health. We engage young people living with HIV and disabilities through mental health sessions to enable them to cope with the stigma and discrimination associated with their conditions with the aim of eliminating the stigma associated with HIV and disability among young people 4. Meaningful youth participation. We advocate for meaningful youth participation in policy spaces in matters concerning their life in county governance. 5. Youth-friendly services. We run a youth facility where young people are able to access free information on HIV, contraceptives, menstrual health, sexual gender-based violence, and relationships.
