The Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK) attended the Private Sector Stakeholder engagement forum for the Kenya Urban Mobility Improvement Project (KUMIP) to be funded by The World Bank. The Kenya Railways Corporation presented the project's procurement packages and proposed project design to interested parties for feedback. AAK was firm on promoting local content and requested that the conditions for RFPs provide favorable conditions for local firms and individual professionals. The World Bank reiterated the need to proper stakeholder engagement and committed to ensuring that professionals and residents among other interested parties will be involved and included in all the relevant processes.

A delegation led by the President Arch. Florence Nyole who also sits in the National Construction Authority Board represented the association in the National Building Code, 2024 launch of Stakeholder sensitization program held at the Bomas of Kenya. Graced by Hon. Alice Wahome, EGH, the Cabinet Secretary of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development, the forum highlighted the roadmap to improving the construction sector through the adoption, implementation and enforcement of the New Building code. The CS called on all professions and other stakeholders to engage the state department of public works in constructive discussions through their associations to collectively resolve issues previously cited on lack of inclusivity in the code. As the National Building Code, 2024 takes effect on 1st March, 2025, the CS reiterated the need for all stakeholders-professionals, developers, land owners, academia, National and County Governments to become ambassadors of the code for the greater good of the country to promote safe buildings, healthy environments, and thriving economies.
