On 5th of December 2024, Centum Investment Company Plc. was granted a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) license to establish a Free Trade Zone on some 2,000 acres within its vast property in Vipingo, Kilifi County. The permit, which was issued to Centum’s SPV - Vipingo Free Trade Zone Limited - will facilitate the establishment of a manufacturing hub anchored on world class infrastructure and strategically linked to East Africa’s critical logistics and transport corridor to spur export of value-added goods from the region. This project is fully aligned to Centum’s strategy that seeks to create investment-grade opportunities that are capable of attracting both local and foreign capital, are positive contributors to carbon reduction and mitigation of environmental impact and offer positive broader socio-economic development through skills enhancement, job creation and improvement of living standards.
