Introducing new technology can be a great way to improve your business, but there are some pitfalls to avoid. Here are some common mistakes to keep in mind: 1. Not aligning technology with business needs. Don't get caught up in the latest shiny tech. Make sure the new technology solves a specific problem or helps you achieve a clear business goal. 2. Skimping on employee training. New technology is only useful if your employees know how to use it. Factor in the cost of training when budgeting for new tech. 3. Neglecting user-friendliness. Even if a technology is powerful, if it's complicated or confusing, employees are less likely to adopt it. Choose technology that is intuitive and easy to learn. 4. Failing to get buy-in from employees. People are often resistant to change. Get your employees involved in the selection process and address their concerns. Show them how the new technology will benefit them in their work. 5. Rushing the implementation. Take the time to properly plan and test the new technology before rolling it out to the entire company. 6. Ignoring cybersecurity risks. New technology can introduce new security vulnerabilities. Make sure your cybersecurity policies are up-to-date and that your data is protected. 7. Neglecting data migration. Migrating data from old systems to new ones can be a complex process. Plan carefully to avoid data loss or corruption. 8. Failing to track and measure results. Once you've implemented new technology, track how it's performing and measure its impact on your business goals. In a historic move for Safaricom Ethiopia, we have started the localization of manufacturing of our infrastructure. Yesterday evening, our CEO, Wim Vanhelleputte was at the handover ceremony at the Woda Metal plc headquarters in Tefki town on account of our receipt of the first batch of 13 locally manufactured telecom towers. We have ordered 68 network towers from Woda plc, the first Ethiopian local manufacturer of such towers. "This is a historic moment for Safaricom in Ethiopia as we have started the localization of the manufacturing of our infrastructure," Wim remarked. "The quality of their towers is good; their galvanization plant is the biggest in East Africa and their cost-effectiveness will enable us to expand our network more efficiently and effectively," he stated. “We are proud to be the first local company to supply telecom towers to Safaricom Ethiopia. Our growth depends on your confidence in us; therefore, we would like to thank you for engaging with us,” remarked Steven Cui, the CEO of Woda Metal plc. #SafaricomEthiopia #furtheraheadtogether #MPESASafaricom #infrastructure #Innovation #network
