Leadership transitions in Africa’s financial institutions are set to shape the continent’s economic future. While African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) has yet to announce its candidates, African Development Bank Group (AfDB) presidency race is already heating up, with at least eight contenders in the running. Regional alliances and voting blocs will play a decisive role in this year’s competition. This insightful article by our CEO, Hannah Ryder (芮 婉 洁) and our junior policy analyst, Teta Mukulira explores the answers 📖 Read the full piece here: https://t.co/DKZsbT2rGh #AfricanLeadership #AfDB #Afreximbank #EconomicDevelopment #LeadershipTransitions #AfricaEconomy

Our CEO, Hannah Ryder (芮 婉 洁), spoke with SEMAFOR about the potential consequences of the U.S. government's decision to scale down USAID’s operations in Africa. While this move raises concerns about long-term partnerships, it also presents an opportunity for African nations to prioritize self-reliance by strengthening local industries, boosting trade, and attracting foreign direct investment instead of depending on perpetual aid. How should African nations and development partners respond to this shift? Read the full interview here 👉 https://bit.ly/4gNVXkC #AfricanDevelopment #TradeNotAid #SelfReliance #Investment

The 38th African Union Summit places reparatory justice and racial healing at the forefront under the theme: "Justice for Africans and People of African Descent Through Reparations." But what does this mean in practical terms? Africa suffers the most from climate change while contributing the least. Yet, wealthier nations continue to profit, leaving African communities to bear the brunt of displacement, resource loss, and environmental devastation. 🔍 Reparations are not about aid—they are about justice, accountability, and sustainable solutions. As our Reparations Report highlights, fair climate financing, structural policy shifts, and investment in resilience are crucial steps toward righting historical and ongoing injustices. As the AU amplifies discussions on #reparations, understanding and implementing effective #climate reparations is more critical than ever. We must push for justice, #accountability, and a truly sustainable future for Africa and beyond. 📎 Read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/dYd5VvvM #AUSummit #ClimateJustice #ReparationsNow

The global luxury market is worth $1.5 trillion, yet African brands remain largely underrepresented. That’s changing. This March, Development Reimagined is facilitating a major milestone—through our dedicated workstream, Africa Reimagined, we are bringing over 20 of Africa’s top luxury fashion brands to Shanghai Fashion Week (SHFW), one of the world’s most influential fashion platforms. This is more than a showcase—it’s a strategic economic move. With 30,000+ industry professionals, SHFW is one of the platforms where trends are set, deals are made, and markets are unlocked. Africa’s luxury brands bring more than just design excellence; they bring sustainability, heritage, and craftsmanship, three factors increasingly driving global consumer demand—especially in China. The future of luxury is shifting, and Africa is playing a key role. By positioning African brands on this global stage, we’re not only amplifying their visibility but also paving the way for market access, investment, and long-term economic growth. Fashion is not just about aesthetics—it’s a powerful engine for job creation, industrialization, and trade. The world is watching, and Africa is ready. #SHFW2025 #LuxuryFashion #SustainableLuxury #EconomicGrowth
