One Planet - Sustainable Bioeconomy Solutions for Global Challenges

About us

Since 2015, the Global Bioeconomy Summit (GBS) is the leading global conference and platform for exchange and discussion of the latest developments for a sustainable and circular bioeconomy and is organised by the International Advisory Council on Global Bioeconomy (IACGB). As an independent think tank composed of about forty high-level bioeconomy leaders and experts from all hemispheres, the IACGB acts as a platform to facilitate international collaboration and mutual exchange in all aspects of relevance for sustainable and circular bioeconomy development by working together with multiple stakeholders across the globe, through leading representatives from policy, science, civil society and the business sector. GBS2024 will take place on 23 - 24 October 2024 in Nairobi, Kenya, under the theme ‘One Planet - Sustainable Bioeconomy Solutions for Global Challenges’. The first GBS was organised by the Federal German Government’s Bioeconomy Council and held in Berlin in 2015 (GBS2015). Subsequent GBSs were held in 2018 and 2020 also in Berlin. For the first time, the GBS will be held in Africa. GBS2024 will provide a platform to discuss global bioeconomy issues in an inclusive manner and it will profile and recognise the importance of Bioeconomy for Africa and other regions in advancing sustainable development.
