Kenya Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society is currently holding it's 48th Annual Scientific Congress with the theme *'Re-Imagining Reproductive and Mental Health for UHC: From Bench to Bedside and Beyond'* Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr , who earlier gave the key note address in the forum attended by Obstetricians and Gynaecologists from all over the country emphasized on the importance of reducing maternal deaths. _"I walked into one of our facilities in Makueni and on the board there were zero maternal deaths, the whole of last year. That board should be copied and posted in every institution because that is the legacy we must leave. We must leave the legacy that ensures that every woman that gives birth lives to see their child."_ Mutula said. During his presentation, Governor Mutula noted that 40 percent of maternal deaths are due to excessive bleeding. He added that this can be mitigated through embracing new interventions like the use of Heat Stable Carbetocin which Makueni has greatly benefited from as well as strengthening primary care networks. The congress runs until 16th Of February 2024. Kenya Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society Mutula Kilonzo Junior Anita Mutula
