#Femicide We are trying to develop #evidence_based_strategies to address the #complex and #multifaceted nature of #femicide in #Kenya and beyond and for this reason, this morning, I visited one of the lawyers in Nairobi as we start this journey with different stakeholders and professionals for more insight which will help us come up with a report which will be shared with all the concerned bodies. And some of the questions I asked were; 1. Why is it important to separate #femicide, as the most #extreme_form of #violence_against_women, from other forms of #murder and to use specific measures to prevent it? 2. What are the experiences of #countries in which #femicide is a specific criminal offence? 3. Are #punishments for #femicide different from punishments for other types of #murder? 4. What are the main #obstacles for effective #prevention, #investigation, #prosecution and #punishment of perpetrators of #gender-based #murders? 5. What are the #capacities of #criminal_system_institutions and should they be strengthened through training, awareness-raising campaigns, and elimination of gender stereotypes and discrimination? 6.
