Inspectors from the Joint National Medical and Dental Councils of EAC Partner States including representatives from Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda and Tanzania in collaboration with the Commission for University/Higher Education of the Partner States conducted a re-inspection of the School of Medicine, Uzima University in Kenya. The exercise was convened by the EAC Secretariat’s health department. The re-inspection aimed to assess Uzima University's compliance with the recommendations of the 3rd Joint EAC inspection conducted in March, 2020. It also was aimed at assessing this school of medicine against the regional standards for medical training institutions, ensuring its graduates are trained under an environment equipping them to provide quality healthcare services. The team evaluated the university's curriculum, infrastructure, faculty, and support systems to ensure they align with EAC protocols and international best practices. This collaborative effort as directed by the 24th Sectoral Council of Ministers of Health, reflects the commitment of EAC Partner States to uphold and enhance healthcare education standards in the region as part of implementing the regions protocol on free movement of goods and services.
