As we wrap up the year, we are excited to share an inspiring story of Mbodze Kassim, a remarkable woman making a difference in her community. As a devoted mother and birth companion, Mbodze has earned the trust of many by helping women access safe delivery services. Through the Stawisha Pwani project, we are empowering community health workers, and traditional birth companions like Mbodze in Kwale County by equipping them with the knowledge and skills to guide expectant mothers to seek care at health centers- ensuring mothers have safe pregnancies and deliveries and can nurture healthy babies. A heartfelt thank you to the USAID Kenya team for highlighting our collaborative efforts to enhance skilled deliveries across supported facilities in the County! We’re thrilled to announce that this year, we’ve achieved an impressive 98% skilled birth attendance across our supported health facilities in the county! Here’s to a weekend of inspiration and to the incredible communities we serve! Watch https://lnkd.in/d4trqght

The Vukisha95 project technical leads conducted a 3-day technical assistance visit in Kisii County, targeting healthcare workers to enhance HIV and TB service delivery. The exercise, among other things, focused on integrating HIV and TB services with other healthcare interventions, ensuring patients receive holistic, high-quality care. Through hands-on mentorship and training, the technical team empowered healthcare workers with the skills to improve service delivery and achieve better health outcomes. By strengthening the capacity of healthcare workers, this exercise advances the journey towards self-reliance and resilient health systems. Together, we’re fostering resilient communities and transforming lives through integrated, patient-centered care. #EmpoweredHealthResilientCommunities #TowardsSustainability Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Kisii County Government

Improving Health Services in Homa Bay County We shared the results of the Workload Indicators of Staffing Need (WISN) study with county health managers, led by Dr. Gordon Okomo, the county director for health. The study helps identify where more health workers are needed and ensures they are evenly distributed to better serve the community. Health workers are the backbone of quality health care. By understanding staffing needs, we can address gaps, improve efficiency, and ensure that health workers are available where needed most. This means better care for everyone, closer to home. Homa Bay County is committed to building a stronger, more responsive health system. The WISN study is a step forward in ensuring that health services are accessible and delivered by a well-supported and motivated workforce. LVCT Health provides technical support in building the counties' capacity to own and utilize high-quality and sustainable HIV, TB, GBV, and SRH services as well as support the mainstreaming of Health Systems Strengthening in all program areas. #EmpoweredHealthyResilientCommunities #TowardsSustainability #BeyondHIV Ministry of Health, Kenya Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

We proudly hosted the third session of the #CATALYST (Catalyzing Access to New Prevention Products to Stop HIV) Study Quality Improvement Learning series, uniting participants from six study sites across Kisumu, Nairobi, and Mombasa. This engaging session provided a platform to review progress, exchange valuable experiences, and spotlight best practices in advancing quality improvement initiatives. The event saw active participation from LVCT Health technical staff, Ministry of Health officials, service providers, community representatives, and PrEP champions. The dedication and collaboration demonstrated by the sites were truly inspiring, as seen during their engaging presentations and interactive gallery walks. We are grateful for the support and encouragement from MOH representatives, which highlights our shared commitment to enhancing the quality of care and making a lasting impact. Implemented through Maximizing Options to Advance Informed Choice for HIV Prevention (MOSAIC), a five-year global project funded by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the CATALYST study is designed to generate evidence to accelerate access to a choice-based HIV prevention portfolio and ensure new prevention products reach and can be used by those who need them most.
