Nairobi City County agriculture policy review ongoing from 16th -18th September 2024 at Sarova Woodlands, Nakuru. A Convening coordinated by PASGR bringing together key actors in Food System Transformation (FST), Utafiti Sera House to finalize on the policy. Main objective is to develop a comprehensive county food system policy encompassing food handling, transportation, and traceability which are patinent issues pointing directly to the current need. The Kenya Sustainable Potato Initiative (KSPI) project, which is funded by AGRA and implemented by a consortium of three, (NPCK, KALRO, and Egerton University) and being implemented in Laikipia, Meru, Nyandarua, and Nandi Counties, held the Project Inception Meeting for Laikipia County on 28th August 2024, at Warwick Hotel, Nanyuki. The objective was to discuss and align stakeholders in the county on the project's objectives. The Kenya Sustainable Potato Initiative (KSPI) project, which is funded by AGRA and implemented by a consortium of three, (NPCK, KALRO, and Egerton University) and being implemented in Laikipia, Meru, Nyandarua, and Nandi Counties, was officially launched on 12th August 2024, at Royal Gardens in Olkalau by AGRA, NPCK, KALRO, Egerton University, National Government, County Governments of Nyandarua, Nandi, Meru, and Laikipia, Viazi Kings Ltd, Simplifine, CIP, AFA, and key stakeholders in the potato subsector. Through the Reclaim Sustainability! Project supported by Solidaridad and Sustainable Potato Initiative (KSPI) project, supported by AGRA, NPCK in collaboration with the County government of Meru is conducting a capacity enhancement workshop for the Meru Tamu Potato Cooperative on 27th, 28th, and 29th August 2024, at Kirua, Meru County . The main objectives are to support the cooperative in developing a strategic plan for 2024-2028, create awareness about the Viazi Soko platform, and to enhance understanding of potato regulations. The project aims to enhance farmers' access to certified seeds, promote sustainable production practices, build inclusive and structured markets, and improve the enabling environment in four potato-growing counties: Nyandarua, Laikipia, Meru, and Nandi. The project will be officially launched on 12th August 2024 in Nyandarua County.
