Founder Pesabits | Providing crypto asset holders in Africa access to quick credit in their local currencies

What a coincidence! A month ago I had started working on a project where we were tokenizing stocks from the Nairobi Securities Exchange PLC and making them tradeable on the blockchain. All a user needed to trade was a self-custodial wallet. Our stocks trading platform is https://lnkd.in/daeVzrxK The reasons that motivated us to work on the project was 💎 Make the stock market accessible for the younger generation #GenZ who found it difficult because of the many steps involved from opening a CDS account to choosing a stock broker. 💎 To make it easy for foreign investors access the African stock market without being here physically or opening any account. Our platform is open source and trading is automated by smart contracts on the blockchain. We did our beta testing on #BaseEcosystem. We are also continuously building on our platform #investinAfrica #NSEmarketplace #RWAs #tokenization

1/4 The @NSE_PLC has today joined the Hedera Council as part of its commitment to the digitization of real-world assets and tokenization of securities in Kenya's capital market.

We had an exciting time at Nafasi Connection sharing how we are making credit accessible for African onchain users. Our chief guest was Vladimir Fomene founder of Splice Africa. Our CEO LEAKEY NJERU did a live demo and went ahead to borrow Kshs 2,000 ($15). Everyone was surprised on how fast the process was and required no approval. The live demo was followed by Q&A session. Most of the questions were about how Pesabits handles crypto assets that a borrower deposits as collateral for a loan. Since inherently crypto assets are volatile in nature. Our answer to that is that we have security mechanisms put in place incase such a situation happens. The first step is to send an email notification to the user notifying them about their collateral falling in value and they should either repay some part of the loan or add more collateral to avoid any penalties. Incase the borrower does not act swiftly or ignores the alert and the situation continues to worsen. Our next step is to swap the user's collateral to a stable coin like USDT.  This is the last line of defence that protects the users collateral against rapid price downfall. The event had developers from Web3Clubs and Base Africa who presented the various products they are building for Africa, Find more about us on pesabits.com #MashujaaDay2024 #Web3Heroes #BlockchainKenya #CryptoKenya
