This past weekend, the Somo team from all our hubs in Kenya and Tanzania came together to review our 2024 goals and refocus for 2025. 2024 has been a year of trials and triumphs, but through it all, our #entrepreneurs have continued to drive change and innovation within their communities. Your unwavering support has been instrumental in the journey. Together, we have empowered 10,654 micro and small businesses across East Africa, creating and impacting 16,445 jobs to date. Through these livelihoods, we have contributed to the growth of more sustainable communities, a mission at the heart of what we do at Somo. Looking ahead, we have ambitious plans for 2025 to continue driving impact and fostering growth. Stay tuned for exciting updates and enjoy these highlights from our recent team-building session. This week has been truly inspiring and impactful as I participated as a board member in Somo’s whole team strategy sessions to reflect 2024 goals and chart a path to achieve SOMO’s ambitious growth metrics for 2025. One of my key takeaways is that SOMO places entrepreneurs at the heart of everything it does. The innovative investment and financing models not only fuel their ventures growth but also generate thousands of jobs. Super proud of team Somo and Amelia Hopkins Phillips!! What stands out is SOMO’s holistic approach is providing entrepreneurs with comprehensive handholding support throughout their growth journey. This has translated into tangible impacts, including hundreds of ventures going through SOMO entrepreneurial suport journey in a year and mobilizing significant investments. This year’s #JamhuriDay themed "Jobs, Labour Migration, Entrepreneurship, and Entertainment," celebrates the strides made in the fight against endemic poverty through job creation and economic empowerment.
