  • 𝗖𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗔 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗞: What do you do with 5-10 acres of idle land if you don't want to sell or farm it? Create a community park. Not a mini-park. This is where a Master Plan comes in. What is it? It's a vision board for your park. A Master Plan is more than just a blueprint, it's a community bond. Picture this: • A small lake for fishing • Playgrounds for the kids • Walking trails, and outdoor exercise equipment for all ages • Picnic areas for family gatherings • A stage for outdoor concerts or performances • A community garden, and maybe even a farmer's market 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀. Creating a Master Plan doesn't have to be expensive. Here are some tips: • Collaborate with local businesses, community organizations, and city officials • Tap into grant programs for funding • Engage with landscape architects and construction companies in your area for the best deals This is your chance to turn idle land into a thriving 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗵𝘂𝗯 that brings people together. Start with a Master Plan, and watch your community grow. Check Out PodCity Small Parks Initiative (SPI) https://lnkd.in/d6i4KCED

The possibilities that lie in the future are infinite. When I say ‘It is our duty to remain optimists,’ this includes not only the openness of the future but also that which all of us contribute to it by everything we do: we are all responsible for what the future holds in store. Thus it is our duty, not to prophesy evil but, rather, to fight for a better world. Sir. Karl Popper, The Myth of the Framework (1994)

On Getting Auctioned: When you are getting auctioned, the salesman who tricked you into a Mortgage Contract is not on the scene. More people should be careful about the fine print and default clauses of a Mortgage Contract. A house is a system of parts. Build the machine very slowly over 3 years, one part at a time. Add what you need and what you can afford as you go. There is no need to ambush yourself into a house you cannot afford. This can lead to complete derailment and loss of the bigger Vision for Ownership. Mathematics doesn’t care. So, you should. 🪄

  • Discover the Roots of Sustainable African Design At Ujenzi Bora, we believe in the power of design to shape a better, greener future for Kenya. Traditional African architecture offers valuable lessons in sustainability, using natural resources in ways that respect and protect our environment. From the use of locally-sourced materials like earth, stone, and wood, to clever designs that maximize natural light and ventilation, traditional African building techniques were eco-friendly long before it became a global trend. These methods not only reduce the carbon footprint but also create homes that blend seamlessly with the landscape. Imagine structures that stay cool in the heat without needing air conditioning or homes built with materials that are abundant and renewable. These are the principles of sustainable African design that we can all learn from and apply to modern construction. At Ujenzi Bora, we’re passionate about spreading awareness of these sustainable practices and encouraging their integration into contemporary building. Let’s celebrate our heritage and pave the way for a more sustainable future together. #SustainableDesign #AfricanArchitecture #EcoFriendlyBuilding #UjenziBora #DesignAndBuildKenya
