  • "A magical experience" is not what we were expecting to hear, but that’s what connecting from a vulnerable and open space can create for any young counselling professional like Melissa Kioko, in the V-Connect Mentorship Program. “Above the technical understanding of the different therapeutic techniques that people use through the peer supervision sessions, the most impactful experience for me has been having a community of therapists. It’s made me to be more open, and vulnerable.” At V-Connect, we believe growth also happens in community, where vulnerability meets support. Melissa’s story is a true testament of the power of connection in shaping resilient, compassionate professionals. We’ll soon be opening our doors for the third cohort. More details to follow soon!

  • What’s holding you back from starting your private practice? Taking the leap can feel overwhelming, but reflecting on key factors can help you gain clarity and prepare better: + Confidence & Your Why – Are you clear on your purpose and what drives your passion for this work? + Knowledge & Experience – Do you feel confident in your ability to guide clients effectively? + Guidance – Have you sought insights or approval from a mentor, supervisor, or trusted colleague? + Professional Requirements – Is your licensing and registration in place? + Budget – Have you considered the time and financial investment needed to get started? Each of these plays a role in building a practice you’ll be proud of. What’s one factor you’re still figuring out?

  • As counselling professionals, we step into the depths of human existence holding space for stories of pain, heartbreak, trauma, and loss. It’s our responsibility — but it can also weigh heavily on our own sense of lightness. So, how do we protect that spark within, ensuring it doesn’t dim in the shadows of the world’s struggles? Here are some gentle reminders to guide you; + Prioritise your well-being: dedicate time to self-care activities that nourish your soul. + Set compassionate boundaries for yourself: establish clear limits around your time and energy. Step back when you feel overwhelmed. + Cultivate your own support system: you too need care. Surround yourself with mentors, peers, or a personal therapist who can help you process the emotional weight you carry. + Embrace the light you see within and around you. Celebrate the wins every chance you get to get. How are you protecting your light in challenging times?

What value does recording your counselling sessions bring to your game as a counsellor? Could it enhance your self-awareness, highlight areas for growth, or sharpen your approach? Even without a formal supervision forum, recordings can serve as a powerful tool for self-reflection, helping you uncover patterns and gain deeper insights into your interactions with clients in your space. Naturally, challenges like confidentiality, trust, or client discomfort with being recorded may arise. That’s why receiving informed consent is essential next to building rapport and being transparent about the purpose of the recording. Have you tried this? What works for you, and what challenges do you face? Let’s learn from each other. • How Can We Be Positive About Death While We're Alive? Conversations about death have long been shrouded in silence, labeled as taboo, as if merely mentioning it might somehow bring it closer. But what if we dared to reframe this mindset? What if we viewed death not as a dark shadow lurking at the edges of life, but as a vital part of our human experience? Enter the death positivity movement—a vibrant call to action that encourages us to normalize discussions about death. This movement invites us to confront our mortality head-on, rather than retreating into fear or avoidance. By embracing this dialogue, we open ourselves to a deeper understanding of life itself. Instead of seeing death through the lens of fear or stigma, we can approach it with compassion, curiosity, and a sense of wonder. Each conversation about death can become an opportunity for connection, reflection, and even celebration. What are your thoughts on this? #NoTaboos #CouragetoTalk #OpenConvos #DeathPositiveMovement
