In our latest op-ed for Devex, we teamed up with Refugees International to explore the financial case for localizing aid. 📊 Our data shows that local organizations are delivering assistance 17%-32% more cost-efficiently than international actors, yet they receive only 1.2% of direct funding. It’s clear that local actors need to be empowered—not treated as subcontractors, but as equal partners in decision-making and resource allocation. Transparency is key to ensuring aid reaches the frontlines. We urge donors to invest in new models that empower local organizations, provide full passthrough of overheads to local partners, and call for transparency around UN cost structures. Read how this shift could unlock millions in cost-savings while delivering more impactful aid directly to the community 👉https://lnkd.in/eWqNrGGS

Happy Mazingira Day! 🇰🇪 As we celebrate this important day dedicated to the environment, we take this moment to reaffirm our deep commitment to conserving our natural surroundings. This commitment was recently showcased during our Coalition of Coalitions Learning Event, where the transboundary coalition delegates, under our Local Coalition Accelerator model, participated in a tree-planting exercise. This symbolic act not only represents unity and collaboration but also our shared responsibility in creating a lasting, positive impact on the local environment. Together, let’s continue to take meaningful steps towards protecting and nurturing our planet. #MazingiraDay #ClimateAction 🌍🌿🌱🌳♻️🍃

🚨 Countdown: less than 24 hours to go! 🚨 Transforming development partnerships requires a fundamental shift in how we view power dynamics, impact scalability, and collaborative solutions. As we navigate an increasingly complex global landscape, it is essential to recognize that traditional models of development are no longer sufficient. The first step in this transformation is acknowledging the need for power shifts within partnerships. Next, we must focus on creating scalable impacts and finally collaboration is key! Segal Family Foundation and Warande Advisory will dive deeper into the conversation tomorrow at Convene, 810 7th Avenue, NYC, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM EDT. Our founder, Chilande Kuloba-Warria, will lead a dynamic discussion with experts from Spring Impact and The Bridgespan Group on how power shifts, scalable impact, and collaboration can transform development partnerships. #PowerShift #Development #Impact #Collaboration #UNGA2024 #UNGA79

Yesterday, we had the honor of hearing from Warande Advisory board member Peter Irungu, who delivered a powerful keynote on Building a Global Movement. He urged the Transboundary Coalition to reflect on the core of their movement, understand the context in which movements are formed, and recognise the power they can wield. Irungu took the delegates through the history of global movements, outlining the steps to build a formidable coalition, and emphasising the importance of decolonizing philanthropy to achieve true localisation of development. #TransboundaryCoalitions #TransboundaryLearning #EmpoweringLocalVoices #CoalitionsForEquityInAction #LocalisationInAction #EmpoweringLocalVoices The Share Trust
