Fair Trade Enterprises will support leading the way towards a Social and Solidarity Economy! Exciting news! This Tuesday, the Economic and Financial Committee of the United Nations adopted the new resolution on "Promoting the social and solidarity economy for sustainable development" which acknowledges the #Transformative role of Fair Trade Enterprises and cooperatives in driving: ✅ social and community transformation ✅ economic resilience and ✅ environmental positive action. Some key takeaways: 🎯 The #Alignment of Fair Trade Enterprises with the #SDGs and recognition of their continuous efforts towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, particularly in employment, education, environmental protection, and social innovation. 📣 A call for #InternationalCooperation in which Member States are encouraged to exchange best practices and engage in South-South, and triangular cooperation, as well as including Fair Trade Enterprises in multilateral initiatives such as the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development, and the Second World Summit for Social Development. 📬 A message to #MemberStates to develop and implement policies and legal frameworks supporting the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE), to include SSE entities in statistics, education, and capacity-building initiatives, and to facilitate financial access and support entrepreneurship in SSE.
