🚗🔋 Lake Region Motor Show! Proud to have represented UTU Cars Africa at the Lake Region Motorshow in a panel discussion focused on "Driving Towards a Sustainable Future: Skills Development, Employment Creation & Entrepreneurship for Youth." Alongside panelists from TVET institutions, Yna Kenya, GIZ Kenya, and M-KOPA , we shared insights on #job opportunities, #skill-building, and #entrepreneurship pathways for #youth in the #e-mobility sector. It was a pleasure meeting the enthusiastic students from Kisumu National Polytechnic, whose questions made the exchange truly inspiring! In the spirit of showcasing EV capabilities, I drove 241km from Naivasha to Kisumu in an electric Wuling Mini Convertible (280km range). With 67km gained through regenerative braking, it proved that long-distance EV travel in Kenya is practical and here to stay. The Motorshow continues until tomorrow, November 3rd! Looking forward to connecting with more EV enthusiasts in Kisumu. 𝟒𝐭𝐡 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐩|𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐩𝐬 From 18 to 23 October, nine energy startups from four East African countries met for the 4th #EnergyCamp. They were selected from a total of almost 100 applications. Startup|Energy supports young African #energy #startups, increases their visibility and promotes job creation and innovation in an energy market largely dominated by non-African companies. An essential part of the work are the Energy Camps, which take place twice a year and last several days. The focus here is not on curriculum-orientated training, but on very specific and individual support in the development of a startup’s business idea. This concept is unique and clearly stands out from other accelerators. While the food delivery industry is certainly booming in Kenya, there's still plenty of room for innovation and disruption, especially in the services space.
