Collective action and shared ownership for driving gender parity is what makes International Women's Day impactful. @GloriaSteinem, world-renowned feminist, journalist and activist once explained "The story of women's struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights." So let’s make every day a Women's Day, a day to truly make a positive difference for all. #ZuriAwards #ZuriAwards2025 #ZuriFoundation #IWD #IWD2025 #AccelerateAction #InternationalWomensDay

International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating women's social, economic, cultural, and political achievements. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality. IWD has occurred for over a century, with the first #IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people. International Women’s Day belongs to all groups collectively everywhere and is not country, group or organization-specific. #ZuriAwards #ZuriAwards2025 #ZuriFoundation #IWD #IWD2025 #AccelerateAction #InternationalWomensDay

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to you Amisa Rashid for your invaluable contributions as a former judge of the Zuri Awards. Your commitment to celebrating exceptional grassroots women is truly inspiring 🙌✨ Thank you for championing change and empowering others! 💪💖
Award(s) winning Mental Health Expert | Chair of Board of Directors / Trustees | 2024 Echoing Green Fellow | Transform Norm Fellow | Top 100 most Influential Young Africans 2023 | Top 40 under 40 Women 2024.
I've made it a priority to #volunteer as a #judge every quarter, allowing me to recharge and witness the inspiring work young people are doing across various fields. 🌟 In the first quarter, I had the privilege of #judging the Zuri Awards - Zuri Foundation celebrating exceptional #grassroots #women making a difference. In the second quarter, I served as a #judge for the Psychological First Aid Innovations organized by the Kenyan Red Cross who were partnering with organization like Nivishe Foundation . Most recently, I was honored to #judge the 2024 Tech Challenge in Nakuru, Kenya, an event designed to inspire students in grades 5-12 to explore careers in STEM. 🚀 The creativity and innovation displayed by the students were truly uplifting! While I noticed some #inequalities in how students from private schools articulated their ideas in English compared to their peers from public and community schools, it was heartening to encourage them to express themselves in Swahili, and they did so brilliantly! I only have the capacity to volunteer as a judge once a quarter, but I'm open to opportunities that promote #women, #youth and community engagement. #YouthEmpowerment #STEM #CommunityImpact #Volunteering #Nakuru #TechChallenge2024

The UK's 2024 International Project Award has been given to the Girls' Education South Sudan (GESS) program for its impact on improving educational access for girls. Girls are 50 percent of total school enrollment in 2022 compared to 45.4 percent in 2020, and the program has seen great successes. GESS has supported over one million girls through cash transfers, enabling them to purchase educational materials and menstrual hygiene supplies. The initiative has helped increase total student enrollment to 2,021,553, with girls accounting for 1,011,607 enrolled students. The program addresses critical barriers to girls' education through community mobilization radio programs focusing on learning techniques, disability inclusion, and menstrual health. It also provides school grants for infrastructure improvements and learning materials. The recognition comes as South Sudan works through immense educational challenges, with more than 70 percent of children not going to school because of war, displacement, and cultural practices. The program shows how government initiatives and international support work together to promote gender equality in education. #GirlsEducation #EducationAccess #SouthSudan #GenderEquality #InternationalDevelopment
