Over the past 21 years, the Australian Marine Complex (AMC) at Henderson has been a powerhouse for Western Australia, creating more than 50,000 jobs and contributing over $3 billion to the economy. In October 2024, the Commonwealth and WA Governments announced that parts of the AMC will be transitioned into a Defence Precinct over the next decade. The WA Government has launched a study to identify alternative locations where capability of the AMC’s Common User Facility (CUF) and associated infrastructure can be relocated. Key stakeholders from the AMC, including CUF users, will be engaged to prioritise needs and inform the selection of alternative locations. The CUF will continue to be operational for short term project-based bookings until the State and Commonwealth enter an agreement on definition of the Defence Precinct, closing its availability to non-defence industries. 🥳 👩🎓 This week, we celebrated the outstanding 2024 recipients of the Western Australian Premier’s University Scholarship (the Scholarship) and Premier’s Western Australian Certificate of Education Bursary (WACE Bursary) at the International Education Scholarship Awards Ceremony. During the evening, the Minister for International Education, the Hon. David Templeman MLA, delivered a welcome address and presented the recipients with their certificates. The recipients had the opportunity to network and meet with officials of the Consular Corps from India, Malaysia, Philippines and Japan, as well as StudyPerth, Western Australia and the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA). 📣 Local Capability Fund has its biggest year yet with the latest recipients to share over $2.5 million in funding! The Local Capability Fund (LCF) provides funding support for WA small to medium enterprises to help them increase their capability, capacity and competitiveness. The latest recipients have been announced across 4 rounds, which cover support for regional businesses across WA's 9 regions, Aboriginal-led businesses, SME's supplying to key State projects and businesses improving their risk management, business performance and efficiency. With some applicants successful across multiple rounds, the funding was awarded to a total of 101 distinct WA businesses. To date, the LCF has generated over $1.42 billion in new contracts won by WA SMEs and has created 2,663 jobs and 342 apprenticeships. The Fund has delivered more than $30 million to more than 870 businesses, including more than 450 regional businesses across a range of industries. Last December, 25 Chinese executives graduated from the 2024 Executive Training Program (ETP) as part of the Australia China Natural Gas Technology Partnership Fund, a 2-month knowledge exchange program, focusing on LNG, renewable energy and doing business in Australia , an activity delivered through the Australia China Natural Gas Technology Partnership Fund (the Fund). The Fund is a joint initiative between Australian partners, Department of Industry, Science and Resources , (DISR), North West Shelf Gas Pty Ltd. Joint Venture (NWSJV) and Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation (JTSI), and Chinese Partner, the National Energy Administration (NEA).   Over a period of nine weeks, the ETP’s Chinese participants attended courses at the AIM WA and undertook site visits to enhance their understanding of the Australian LNG industry, doing business in Australia and Australian culture. We would like to wish a Happy Chinese New Year to the more than 300 ETP alumni, JTSI has hosted over the term of the Fund, who each contribute to the Australia-China relationship in the LNG industry.
