In celebration, all Studio Galilei employees gathered together for a photoshoot. We also had the pleasure of speaking with our one-millionth rider from Bukimyeon in Chenogju City. He shared, “𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝑏𝑒𝑠𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑎𝑏𝑜𝑢𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑉𝐴𝑅𝑂 𝐷𝑅𝑇 𝑏𝑢𝑠 𝑖𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝑟𝑒𝑞𝑢𝑒𝑠𝑡 𝑎 𝑟𝑖𝑑𝑒 𝑤ℎ𝑒𝑛𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟 𝑛𝑒𝑒𝑑𝑒𝑑.” As a frequent rider, he uses the VARO DRT service more than five times a week, totaling over 440 rides since the launch of the Cheongju Call Bus. He noted that with so many rides, the drivers have come to feel like family. Hearing how much our service positively impacts our riders is incredibly rewarding 🙏. Moving forward, Studio Galilei will remain committed to making travel easier and more convenient for everyone. Studio Galilei #VARODRT #DRT #Milestone #1M #Celebration

📢 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐚 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐡𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐣𝐮 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐁𝐮𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐞𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝! Starting November 19, the service area for the Chungju Call Bus, operated by VARO DRT, will expand from the current 6 communities to 13 communities. In addition, the service zones will be reorganized into 5 zones, reflecting local characteristics and passenger travel patterns. With this expansion, we are taking on the challenge of providing services in a 791 km² area using 9 vehicles. The service will operate in a hybrid format, combining fixed routes with reservation options. To support the expansion, the service operation team visited local community centers and senior centers to promote the service. They explained the service zones and operations to senior citizens who may find it challenging to use DRT services, and even conducted live demonstrations of vehicle dispatching via the call center. The service outcomes will be shared on Studio Galilei's LinkedIn soon, so stay tuned for updates! 🙏 Studio Galilei #VARODRT #Chungju #DRT #Expansion

After the hot summer and Chuseok holiday, the number of monthly riders returned to an upward trend, with demand increasing by an impressive 18% compared to the previous month. Along with this demand recovery, we have more exciting news: for the first time, the total monthly number of passengers on DRT exceeded 90,000! This is the highest record not only for the past six months but also since the service first launched in April 2022, marking a new peak in two years and seven months. The performance of VARO T, "Tabayong," which began service in Yongin City in October, is particularly notable. In October alone, Tabayong transported 4,329 riders, achieving an average efficiency of 4.04 passengers per vehicle per hour. We’re not resting on these achievements and are committed to providing greater mobility convenience to even more people. 🙏 𝐅𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 Studio Galilei 𝐨𝐧 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐝𝐈𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐮𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲! 📢 𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 We are pleased to announce that Studio Galilei's recent paper submission has been accepted for publication. From September 2023 to June 2024, Studio Galilei operated TABARA, the first Tourism DRT service in Korea and the first VARO T service, in the Gijang area of Busan Metropolitan City. This October, Hyunmyung Kim (CEO of Studio Galilei, 1st author), 𝐒𝐞-𝐡𝐞𝐨𝐧 𝐊𝐢𝐦 (Professor at Hanbat University), and 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠-𝐇𝐲𝐞𝐨𝐧 𝐉𝐨𝐡 (a member of Studio Galilei Advisory Group, corresponding author), along with other Studio Galilei researchers (co-authors), published a paper based on the TABARA case. The study estimates users' willingness to pay for DRT services based on their characteristics and service experiences. The paper, titled "𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐏𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐛𝐲 𝐔𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐑𝐓 𝐓𝐀𝐁𝐀𝐑𝐀 𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐢𝐣𝐚𝐧𝐠" was published in 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐊𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐕𝐨𝐥. 𝟒𝟐, 𝐍𝐨. 𝟓., 𝐩𝐩. 𝟔𝟎𝟖-𝟔𝟐𝟓. The study ultimately aimed to identify users' marginal willingness to pay for DRT service attribute improvements by analyzing survey responses on DRT use intentions under various service options. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐬: ✅ 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭, service combinations that reduce long wait times and improve accessibility to stops have a significant impact on the choice to use DRT. ✅ 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝, willingness to pay shows slight variations based on individual characteristics and service experience, indicating differences not only by demographic groups with fixed personal traits but also by situational factors at the time of use. ✅ 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐝, the most influential factor in DRT usage is the alternative characteristics, suggesting that prioritizing the development and refinement of DRT’s core characteristics until the service reaches full maturity is essential for increasing user satisfaction. ✅ 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐡, it seems reasonable for 𝑎𝑑𝑑𝑖𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑎𝑙 willingness to pay for DRT usage to be set at around one-thirds of the current city bus fare. A heartfelt thank you to all the authors for their hard work 🙏. Studio Galilei will continue its academic efforts related to VARO DRT operations to share valuable insights. #StudioGalilei #VARODRT #TABARA #PAPER #ANALYSIS
