Shift Dynamics Unveils AI Weapons Systems Integration Solution ‘SAGE AI’   Shift Dynamics, a specialist in military drones and unmanned defense systems, has introduced a new concept AI integration solution for weapons systems.   Shift Dynamics revealed its advanced technology-integrated weapons system AI solution, 'SAGE AI,' on the 2nd. 'SAGE AI' aims to minimize human intervention on the battlefield, maximize combat efficiency, and reduce casualties.   The development of the newly introduced 'SAGE AI' incorporates technological capabilities and know-how that have been commercialized through autonomous flight implementations of drones and future air mobility (AAM). The solution utilized AI technologies such as computer vision and machine learning, applied to real-time location identification and mapping technologies using cameras and LiDAR, position detection technologies in situations where Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) reception is impossible, object recognition and tracking technologies, and massive data analysis for object identification.   Shift Dynamics anticipates that the 'SAGE AI'-based solutions will be actively utilized in two major areas. First, granting full autonomy to current weapon systems to realize automation or unmanned operations of traditional weapon systems such as combat vehicles, armored vehicles, combat ships, and aircraft. Additionally, it is expected to enhance usability by building capabilities for deep data-based strategic analysis on the battlefield.   Shift Dynamics was established in January last year as a defense subsidiary of the AAM company This Is Engineering (TIE). Preparing for entry into the defense sector with unmanned aerial systems (UAS), counter-unmanned aerial systems (CUAS), and AI solutions, based on unmanned autonomous flight, control systems, and comprehensive system technologies that TIE possesses, including mass-produced drones and the high-speed AAM 'Shift Compson,' the first of its kind developed with purely civilian company technology in Korea. TIE plans to unveil a diverse lineup of defense drones soon, including multi-purpose electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL), long-range multi-purpose autonomous hybrid eVTOL, and ultra-compact surveillance drones, with a phased launch planned from the second half of the year.   Jae-ki Hong, CEO of Shift Dynamics, stated, "TIE has accumulated AI capabilities and know-how that we will apply across various defense sectors to supply truly innovative weapons systems that customers desire," and added, "We will contribute to strengthening Korea's defense capabilities and enhancing national competitiveness through exports." #shift dynamics

시프트다이나믹스, AI 무기체계 통합 솔루션 ‘SAGE AI’ 공개 군용 무인기 및 무인방어체계 전문기업 시프트다이나믹스가 신개념 무기체계 인공지능(AI) 통합 솔루션을 선보인다. 시프트다이나믹스는 첨단 기술을 통합한 무기체계 AI 통합 솔루션 ‘SAGE AI’를 2일 공개했다. ‘SAGE AI’는 전장에서의 인간 개입을 최소화하며, 전투의 효율성을 극대화하고 인명피해를 줄이는 것을 목표로 하는 AI 솔루션이다. 이번에 선보인 ‘SAGE AI’의 개발에는 그동안 드론과 미래항공모빌리티(AAM)의 자율비행 구현을 통해 상용화가 검증된 기술적 역량과 노하우가 접목됐다. 카메라·라이다 등을 이용한 실시간 위치식별 및 맵핑기술과 위성항법시스템(GNSS) 수신이 불가능한 상황에서의 위치파악 기술, 사물 인식·추적 기술, 방대한 데이터 분석을 통한 객체 식별 기술 개발에 적용된 컴퓨터 비전, 머신러닝 등의 AI 기술들이 솔루션 개발에 사용됐다. 시프트다이나믹스는 ‘SAGE AI’를 기반으로 한 솔루션 제공과 함께 크게 두가지 영역에서 적극 활용될 수 있을 것으로 전망하고 있다. 우선 현 무기체계에 완전 자율성을 부여해 전투차량이나 장갑차, 전투함, 항공기 등과 같은 전통적 무기체계의 자동화 또는 무인화를 실현하는 것이다. 또 데이터 기반의 심층 정보 분석능력을 구축해 전장에서 전략적 우위를 확보할 수 있다는 점에서도 활용도를 높일 것으로 기대하고 있다. 시프트다이나믹스는 AAM 기업 디스이즈엔지니어링(TIE)의 방산 자회사로 작년 1월 설립됐다. 양산형 드론에서부터 국내 최초 순수 민간기업 기술로 제작되고 있는 고속 AAM ‘시프트 컴슨’ 등 TIE가 보유한 무인기 자율비행, 제어시스템, 체계종합기술을 기반으로 무인기체계(UAS), 무인방어체계(CUAS), 인공지능 솔루션 등 방산 분야 진출을 준비해 오고 있다. TIE는 군 수송용 다목적 전동수직이착륙기(eVTOL), 장거리 다목적 자율 하이브리드 eVTOL, 초소형 감시정찰드론 등 다양한 방산 무인기 라인업들을 조만간 공개하고 하반기부터 순차적인 출시 계획도 전할 예정이다. 홍재기 시프트 다이나믹스 대표는 “그동안 TIE가 축적해 온 AI 역량과 노하우를 방산 각 분야에 접목시켜 고객이 진정으로 원하는 혁신적 무기체계를 공급할 것”이라며 “한국의 국방력 강화는 물론 수출을 통해 국가경쟁력 확보에도 기여할 수 있도록 하겠다”고 밝혔다. #shift dynamics

It is a two-seater prototype of 'SHIFT Compson', a 5seater vertical take off and landing AAM, designed to achieve top speed of 330km/h and a range of over 280km, based on TIE's unique flight control technology and aircraft design expertise. The 'SHIFT Compson' incorporates STAC, a proprietary distributed control technology, making it possible to fly long distances at high speeds with outstanding agility and minimal movement of the fuselage, providing stability for passengers.
