SALT LAKE CITY–The Matheson Courthouse in downtown Salt Lake was briefly evacuated after a suspicious package was found there Tuesday afternoon. The package in question was a carry-on sized luggage bag. Both the courthouse and the surrounding area were evacuated while a bomb squad checked the package.
The Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office says they have finished investigating and found nothing suspicious inside the bag. At around 3:15 p.m., the area was cleared and the evacuation ended.
During the investigation, Utah Transit Authority placed a bus bridge near the Courthouse TRAX station. The bridge moved passengers between the Courthouse and Library stations while the courthouse was closed.
#TRAX Update 2:21 PM: #TRAX Update 2:19 PM: Expect up to 20-minute delays on the Blue Line southbound from Fashion Place to Crescent View. The bus bridge from Courthouse and Library is still in place.
