Travis Barker may be known as a talented drummer and producer, but he’s also passionate about health and wellness.

His journey began after surviving a devastating plane crash almost 16 years ago.

“After my accident in 2008, more than 70% of my body was burnt,” he explained. “I was told by doctors that I may never be able to walk or drum again, so I set out to prove everybody wrong, including myself.

The crash killed both pilots onboard as well as Barker’s security guard, Charles Still, and personal assistant Chris Baker. Barker and his friend Adam Goldstein, also known as DJ AM, were the only survivors. Goldstein later died of an accidental overdose in 2009, according to the Los Angeles Times.

During his recovery, Barker decided to lace up his sneakers and defy the odds.

“What started with short walks turned into short runs every day,” he revealed. “This past year I ran my first half marathon and participated in a few 5Ks.”

As a promise to himself for surviving the accident, the Blink-182 drummer also adopted a vegan lifestyle, he told Men’s Journal in 2017.

Now, Barker is taking that passion for health and wellness to the public.

He’s launching Run Travis Run, a run and wellness experience which offers “attendees a 360-degree experience of health, wellness, and mindful exploration.”

Barker and his wife, Kourtney Kardashian Barker, announced the project with a “Forrest Gump” parody on social media.

“I just felt like running,” the caption reads.

Organizers say it’s more than an event, “it’s an opportunity to engage in a holistic experience that promotes physical activity, mental well-being, and community.”

Travis Barker’s Run Travis Run is coming to The Kia Forum in Inglewood, California on July 6 and Queens’ Citi Field in New York on July 21. Both shows will coincide with Blink-182’s One More Time Tour dates.

“The running community is massive and I loved how everyone from all walks of life ran together and supported one another,” Barker continued. “This is what Run Travis Run was built off of and we’re only getting started.”

The day will start with a timed run at the venues on their respective days at 9 a.m.

“Whether a seasoned runner or just starting, this event is for everyone,” a press release explained.
