Gen Z is poised to bring about significant shifts in terms of technology, economy, work, education and social and environment aspects, among others. As a result, it is becoming increasingly critical to factor in their opinions and ideas when planning for positive change. That’s why KPMG Kuwait, in collaboration with Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST), is conducting a survey to gather Gen Z’s thoughts and perspectives on five key areas: (a) personal finance; (b) top concerns; (c) economy and growth; (d) education and workplace expectations; and (e) well-being. Our goal is to identify if there exists a collective mindset (and differences) within the Gen Z that can potentially bring reforms in policies, regulations and offerings that organizations as well as those from the said generation could benefit from. So, if you are a resident of Kuwait and between the age of 18 and 27, we urge you to take the survey. The survey is completely anonymous and will take less than 10 minutes to complete. The findings recorded from the survey will be published later this year in the form of KPMG Kuwait’s Gen Z Report, titled Un-capped: Outlooks from the Z view. Your views and insights are valuable to us and will be key in voicing a true and accurate Gen Z narrative. Take the survey now. The new Domestic Minimum Top-up Tax Law (“DMTT Law”) in Kuwait is paving the way for a new era of tax transparency and fairness and requires organizations to view it more as a strategic shift than a regulatory change. Changfeng W., Director – Tax & Corporate Services, KPMG Kuwait, spoke about the introduction of the DMTT law in Kuwait and said: “The Domestic Minimum Top-up Tax Law (“DMTT Law”) is more than a regulatory change; it is a strategic shift. It’s a call to action for businesses to align with global tax integrity. Prepare your organization for this new era of transparency and awareness.” The new law specifically introduces the requirement of a Domestic Minimum Top-up Tax (“DMTT”), imposing a minimum 15% tax on multinational enterprises with revenues exceeding EUR 750 Million in line with BEPS Pillar II. The legislation states that further guidance through Executive Regulations is expected within 6 months. Our colleagues from the AAS (Accounting Advisory Services) team participated at the startups-expo Kuwait Summit held from 18 to 20 Feb 2025. At the event, our team helped SMEs (small and medium enterprises) and future business leaders see how they can leverage future-forward tools and approaches to drive financial transformation, upscale operations, achieve compliance and build a healthy financial ecosystem in their organization. Here are some glimpses from our time at the expo. Essam Ahmed Nora Karekinian Sameh Shehata #KPMG #Kuwait #AccountingAdvisory

Last week, our Partners and Directors attended the MESAC Tax Summit 2025 in Riyadh. The tax summit brought together tax professionals, finance leaders and C-suite executives from the Middle East, South Asia, Caucasus and Central Asia (MESAC) region to share the outlook on the ever-evolving tax landscape. Pertinent discussions touched on key developments in the tax ecosystem, such as corporate tax updates from the GCC and the wider region, updates in transfer pricing and advance pricing agreements, and Pillar Two and Domestic Minimum Top-up Tax (DMTT) compliance. One of the principal points that emerged from the event is that businesses need to be more agile and proactive than ever. They need to update and train their tax functions on the evolving VAT and RETT regulations, request advance rulings for greater tax certainty, adhere to VAT refund procedures, comply with e-invoicing requirements, and come up with strategies to minimize litigation-based risks. The event drove home the point that as global and national regulatory frameworks evolve, businesses need to assess where they stand from compliance and competition perspectives and adapt accordingly at speed. We are thankful to KPMG Saudi Arabia and all others associated in organizing this event. In a step to help the fight against food waste and hunger, we teamed up with refood — a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing waste sustainably. Our volunteers took this opportunity to support refood's efforts toward this cause, gathering at their facility to help pack food for those in need. It was amazing to see the impact we could deliver firsthand. We are grateful to refood for this opportunity and equally thankful to our CSR team for putting this together, enabling us to make a difference and bring about a positive change.
