🌍 More than 200 people attended the 4th Annual Cayman Day celebration in London. Caymanians, students, and friends of the Cayman Islands enjoyed a cultural showcase featuring performances by the Cayman Islands Folk Singers, National Dance Company, and Impulse Band. The event was packed with dancing, singing, thatch crafts, Caribbean cuisine, and music from a live DJ. Special guests included Her Excellency the Governor Mrs. Jane Owen, Premier Hon. Juliana O’Connor-Connolly, Ministers the Hon. Dwayne Seymour and Jay Ebanks, Cabinet Secretary Mr. Samuel Rose, and Financial Secretary Mr. Kenneth Jefferson, who all thanked attendees for celebrating Caymanian culture abroad. ❗️ The Mosquito Research and Control Unit (MRCU), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the Health Services Authority (HSA), urges the public to stay vigilant against vector-borne diseases following regional reports of increased activity. While there is no local transmission in the Cayman Islands, one imported case of Oropouche fever and several imported dengue fever cases have been reported this year. MRCU and health authorities are working closely to conduct surveillance, testing, and mosquito control efforts. The public is reminded of its critical role in reducing risks. The Cayman Islands delegation successfully concluded its official business yesterday, 21 November, at the Joint Ministerial Council (JMC) Plenary in London. Premier Juliana O'Connor-Connolly noted that the atmosphere and tone of the JMC Plenary was positive and respectful which created the opportunity to clarify details on matters of concern to the Cayman Islands.
