Trade policy. Central asian connectivity. Business climate.

Kazakhstan Exporters' Business Mission to Doha, Qatar organized by Qaztrade Center for Trade Policy Development , the Ministry of Trade and Integration, and the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Qatar. 🔹 The mission brought together 30 companies from Kazakhstan and Qatar, representing sectors such as agriculture, agro-industry, IT, and more. Productive B2B meetings were held to discuss opportunities for mutual exchange of goods and services. 🔹 A key topic of discussion was logistics with Qatar Airways, aiming to optimize the transportation of Kazakhstani goods to Qatar and the Middle East. Trade turnover between the two countries in 2024 reached $6.2 million, with a 75% increase in lamb exports. This highlights the strong demand for Kazakh products and the significance of the agriculture sector.

The conference and meetings exceeded all expectations – I left with new partnerships, connections, friends, and completely new perspective on the dynamic Chinese market. A huge thank you to Growth Vision Pro (Lazzat Borankulova, Maral Shashkenova) Taovation, Qaztrade Center for Trade Policy Development , Haoshu Peng, and Kazakh startups like CEREBRA and Alaqan (Berik Nurymbetov, Ayan Ispola) who joined this trip. • On October 17, 2024, Astana hosted the presentation of the new report “Kazakhstan’s Resource Economy: Diversification through Global Value Chains”, prepared by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB). We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the ADB in Kazakhstan Utsav Kumar for organizing this important event. Mahinthan Joseph Mariasingham, Principal Statistician at ERDD, ADB, and Nomundari Baatar, Consultant at ERDD, ADB, shared the key findings and recommendations of the report. The panel discussion featured: Albert Park, Chief Economist and Director General of ERDI, ADB; Imed Drine, Manager of Economic Research, Islamic Development Bank; Nurlan Kulbatyrov, Deputy General Director of the Qaztrade Center for Trade Policy Development The report emphasizes the need for #Kazakhstan to diversify its economy, which is still heavily reliant on raw materials exports especially from the mining sector, which accounted for over 80% of the country’s total exports in 2021. Nurlan Kulbatyrov, Deputy CEO of QazTrade, highlighted: "Increasing non-primary export volumes is a key driver of Kazakhstan's economic diversification. By 2025, the export volume of processed goods and services is expected to reach $41 billion. It is crucial to focus on supporting the export of medium and high-value-added products. Between 2021 and 2023, Kazakhstan's non-primary exports grew by 27.4%, rising from $19.8 billion to $25.3 billion. At the same time, Kazakhstan not only relies on its own raw material resources for manufacturing but also imports about $3.5-4.0 billion worth of materials from abroad." The event provided a valuable platform for exchanging insights and discussing the future direction of Kazakhstan's economic development, with a focus on diversification and sustainable growth. https://lnkd.in/da2jmC8j #QazTrade #Kazakhstan #Export #ADB #IsDB #GlobalValueChains #Economy #Innovation #Diversification
