Amel Association International was proud to have Dr. Zeina Mohanna represent Lebanon at the Global Humanitarian Overview 2025 in Kuwait, hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and OCHA. This participation underscored Lebanon’s dedication to global humanitarian initiatives and its commitment to collaborative action in addressing the complex crisis facing the country.

Amel #Lebanon Emergency Response: Weekly Overview Despite the implementation of a #ceasefire on November 27, the humanitarian needs in Lebanon remain critical. Amel Association International continues to lead vital efforts in providing essential services across health, #protection, and #education sectors. Since September, the organization has covered 220 sites through its mobile teams and fixed facilities. Over the past week alone, Amel delivered 627 #primaryhealth consultations, 101 reproductive health consultations, and 49 mental health interventions. Additionally, more than 10,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) received psychological first aid, alongside extensive social support and counseling services, underscoring Amel’s pivotal role in addressing the urgent needs of vulnerable populations. We are thankful for the innovative ideas and support we received, especially from our partners. A big thank you to the YMCA representative who joined us — we’re excited to launch our Leadership coaching program together in January 2025. This year, we’ve been privileged to participate in 11 major events across Houston, including the toy drive, school supplies donations, and Hurricane Beryl food drive. We’ve also provided over 104 leadership coaching sessions, helping individuals in our community realize their full potential. As we look ahead, we’re exploring new funding opportunities to ensure we are not solely reliant on individual donors. Thank you for your unwavering support in every form. Amel Lebanon: Emergency Response Weekly Update Amel Association has reached 177 sites since September 23, supporting displaced individuals through distributions of essential items, including hygiene kits, blankets, and food parcels, as well as health interventions. Between November 11–17 alone, over 2,300 health consultations were provided, along with vaccinations and referrals for specialized care. Thousands of IDPs, particularly children, have benefited from psychological first aid, psycho-social support, and community-based activities. Between September 23 and November 17, over 14,600 children participated in recreational and Lego activities, while 9,897 individuals received psychological first aid. Amel organized 343 sessions focusing on Psycho-Social Support (PSS), Social Emotional Learning (SEL), and recreational activities, benefiting over 2,450 children since September 23. Additionally, 7,457 children between 6–14 years old have engaged in life skills activities, with caregivers also receiving support for learning continuity during the crisis. read more ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/dmnpEypZ

Lebanon is enduring severe attacks, leaving thousands injured and hundreds in critical condition. Families are fleeing conflict zones, overwhelming already vulnerable communities. This latest disaster compounds the aftereffects of the Beirut Port explosion, disease outbreaks, and severe economic collapse. We also had the pleasure of connecting with other nonprofits in Houston and are excited to collaborate on future initiatives to support their causes. This post would be incomplete without a special shoutout to our two young volunteers Leilana and Emily who helped with the face painting. Their efforts were met with long lines of excited kids, who proudly showed off their painted faces as they left our table.
