The new Electricity Bill was passed in Parliament yesterday (06.06.2024) with a majority of 44 votes. The Bill garnered 103 votes in favour and 59 against at the conclusion of the day’s debate. Ranil Angunawela, partner at LexAG, served as the Legal Advisor to the Power Sector Reform Secretariat throughout this process.
