The "Clean Sri Lanka" project is a nationwide initiative aimed at fostering a better environment and promoting ethical principles across the three pillars of sustainability: Economic, Social, and Environmental (EESG). Our goal is to improve governance through ethics and transparency, supported by strong partnerships that empower public health and inclusivity. From an environmental perspective, we focus on green practices, effective waste management, energy conservation, and biodiversity protection. Additionally, we are creating green jobs, fostering sustainable industries, and opening up investment opportunities. With a vision of transforming Sri Lanka into a beautiful island filled with smiling people, and a mission to evolve it into a developed nation, we are soon introducing new features such as a dashboard, payment gateway for donations, and tools that will provide transparent progress updates on the Clean Sri Lanka project through web & mobile app. Your support is the cornerstone of a brighter, more sustainable future! >>> https://lnkd.in/gNjFrcKA #CleanSriLanka #digitaleconomysl #digitalpayments

For the new year of 2025, the Digital Economy Ministry commenced its work under the leadership of Deputy Minister Eranga Weeraratne in the Ministry of Digital Economy. Addressing the staff of the ministry and the attendees, the Minister emphasized the need for a public service that has long been under pressure from the people of the country to now commit to delivering a highly efficient and effective service. In his remarks, the Minister stated that the Ministry of Digital Economy has been given the primary responsibility of driving the digitization efforts, which are fundamental to transforming the public service into an efficient and effective system. Dr. Hans Wejeesooriya,Chairman ICTA and Senior Advisor to the President, who was present at the event, also provided his insights. He noted that addressing the needs of the nation begins with understanding the problems faced by the people, businesses, and the economy. He expressed optimism that even a 3-4% economic growth is achievable with the right strategies by increasing revenues and reducing costs. He emphasized that digital empowerment could enhance productivity for everyone—from entrepreneurs to trishaw drivers. Multiply that impact across 20 million people, and the result is massive. The key, he added, lies in innovating based on the problems shared by the people and businesses to create solutions that address their needs. ‘Let us join hands and unlock our growth potential,’ he urged. Mr. Waruna Sri Dhanapala, Acting Secretary of the Ministry of Digital Economy, spoke about the ambitious goal of advancing the digital economy by digitizing the entire country, in tandem with the Clean Sri Lanka Project, aiming to achieve a USD 15 billion digital economy. In addition to this, the Commissioner General of the Department for Registration of Persons, the CEO of ICTA, and the Chairman of SLCERT, Director General of TRC which fall under the Ministry of Digital Economy, were also in attendance. 01.01.2025 #digitaleconomysl

The Ministry of Digital Economy has announced the introduction of a special program to promote digital payments. Deputy Minister Eranga Weeraratne highlighted that using cash for transactions costs approximately 1.5% of the annual Gross Domestic Product (GDP). He also pointed out that cash payments contribute to increased fraud, corruption, and inefficiencies in payment processes. To address these issues, the Deputy Minister stated that all payments to government institutions will soon be subject to digitalization. GovPay: Digitalizing Government Transactions Launching by the end of January 2025, GovPay will initially integrate 16 government institutions. An additional 30 institutions are scheduled to join in two further phases, achieving full implementation by April 2025. This phased rollout is designed to ensure a seamless, user-friendly experience, enabling citizens to make payments for government services through fintech applications or online banking platforms. GovPay aims to modernize revenue collection processes, ensuring enhanced control, accuracy, security, and transparency in government financial transactions. By aligning with the digital government strategy, GovPay integrates data-driven processes to improve operational efficiency and responsiveness, enabling informed decision-making and ultimately improving service delivery standards. Boosting Efficiency and Reducing Corruption Deputy Minister Weeraratne emphasized that this initiative will significantly improve the efficiency of the overall system. Additionally, promoting digital payments will reduce manual labor, eliminate inefficiencies and corrupt practices, and provide more convenient services to the public. #digitaleconomysl #digitalpayments 28.12.2024
