Today is International Day for Girls and Women in Science. 🧑🔬 This day celebrates women's contribution to science and technology by encouraging girls to be bold in their pursuit of scientific excellence. Unfortunately, European Union countries are still dominated by men - around 60% of all scientists and engineers are men - but the situation in Lithuania is slightly better. Here, women account for 58% of scientists and engineers. ⚙️ This is inspiring and shows that gender equality in this field is achievable. To celebrate this day, the #ArtiluxNMF team visited the Simonas Daukantas Engineering Gymnasium in Šiauliai, where Simona Skėrė, PhD, Chief Development Officer and one of the authors of the #ArtiluxAcademy initiative, shared her journey into the world of engineering. She talked about the challenges and achievements of pursuing a PhD in engineering, inspiring the girls to believe in their own strengths and to bravely follow the path of science and technology. In addition to listening to her story, nearly 100 students took part in an engineering challenge where they could put their creativity and engineering skills to the test. ⛓️🔩 We closed the event by giving away three Tregren smart gardens. 🪴They will be a reminder of the education and a great long lasting greenery in classes! #ArtiluxAcademy initiative aims to contribute to the socio-economic development of Šiauliai region. Yesterday #ArtiluxNMF hosted a workshop for young entrepreneurs "How does an entrepreneur grow?" 🌱✨ A large group of students from different Šiauliai's Junior High Schools came to surprise with ideas and turn them into real product prototypes that would meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. 🌍💡 The event started with a greeting from Unal KONT, CEO of #ArtiluxNMF, and a presentation on finance by Joana Gaidamaviciene from Citadele bankas Lietuvoje 💰📊. The practical part of the workshop was coordinated by Simona Skėrė, PhD. During the event, four teams created products out of the industrial waste they were given - plastics, fabrics, electronics, etc. ♻️ After an hour-long creative process, each team made a presentation and were then nominated in four different areas. 🏆 The most innovative business idea was nominated for the team that presented an automatic waste sorting machine. 🎉 The "Most Original Business Idea" nomination went to the team that developed a prototype for reusable cloth garbage bags. 🌞 The most start-up business idea went to a solar-powered lighting system. 💡 And the best STEAM business was a prototype of a motion-activated luminaire. The #ArtiluxAcademy initiative aims to contribute to the socio-economic development of the Šiauliai region. Project „Time in your hands“! 🎨 More than a week ago, the #ArtiluxNMF project was launched with the participation of students from Šiauliai Dermės School. On 14th of February, we will have the opportunity to admire 20 unique and original clocks that the children have decorated with their own hands! ✍️ With this playful project, we aim to develop the artistic abilities of schoolchildren and encourage them to look creatively at the objects around them. 24th of January is International Education Day. 📚✨The United Nations declared this day to draw attention to people who lack access to education. The aim of this day is to ensure that education is accessible to all, regardless of their status or other circumstances. When the #ArtiluxAcademy initiative was launched, we recognized the potential to positively influence the social and economic development of the Šiauliai region through strategic partnerships with educational institutions. 🌟 Our mission is to inspire young minds and foster their engagement in engineering. Education must be supported by businesses, which is why we celebrated this day together with Šiaulių technologijų mokymo centras / Šiaulių technology training center. 👨🏫 On Friday, we were visited by three groups of students - welders and electricians. The young professionals learned about the #Artilux company's production processes and innovative products that are created every day.
