On Tuesday, at the Office of the President of the Republic of Lithuania, leaders from education, politics, and civil society gathered for an exclusive conference, organized for the first time by WoW University, EdTech Lithuania, the Nacionalinis švietimo NVO tinklas and Švietimo mainų paramos fondas. The discussion focused on the role of lifelong learning in the country’s progress. 📣 The event brought together more than 600 participants, both in person and online—demonstrating that the culture of lifelong learning is becoming an increasingly important part of Lithuania’s vision for the future. We are grateful to the Office of the President of the Republic of Lithuania for the opportunity to host the conference in this distinguished venue and for its support of such a crucial topic. Special thanks to Jolanta Karpavičienė, Head of the Education, Science, and Culture Group, for her inspiring words and for encouraging collective efforts toward lifelong learning. 📢 On Tuesday, EdTech Lithuania Association members met with Nacionalinė švietimo agentūra Director Simonas Šabanovas, PhD and Indrė Šuolienė. During the meeting, we discussed how EdTech solutions can contribute to transforming Lithuania's education system. Our goals by 2030: ✨ Lithuania – one of the TOP 1 education systems in Europe. ✨ Development of a national EdTech strategy. ✨ Collaboration between the public and private sectors. ✨ Sustainable and strong growth of the EdTech ecosystem. 👉 What challenges do we face, and how are we moving forward? 👉 Currently, we encounter several challenges: the lack of a clear national EdTech strategy and goals, differing perceptions of educational innovation across institutions, and an undefined funding model for EdTech solutions. In response to these challenges, we will develop a clear and ambitious national EdTech strategy, promote pilot projects in schools, and strengthen a shared vision to make technology an integral part of education. 🚀 We believe that EdTech solutions can reach every student and teacher. EdTech strategy lab at UNESCO in Paris with 150 participants from 33 countries. Looks like I was the only one representing #Lithuania 🙂 A full day with speeches and workshops on #edtech regulations, evidence-based tools, creating frameworks, funding and surely improving pedagogy. The processes will be long, but there are some things to focus on when creating an edtech startup or being on the regulatory side: ✔️ There is a variety of edtech tools on the market, but usually it's all about marketing and sales when it comes to success of the company rather than quality; ✔️ EdTechs should be providing evidence based tools. But here comes the difficult part- who creates frameworks, what do we want to measure, who funds the research, where do startups get the data from, do we equally trust all countries; ✔️ Unesco officials have been working on the definition of edtech ecosystem for 2 years, which says a lot. At the same time they work on global issues and challenges of: 250mln kids are out of schools globally, 763mln adults can't read and write, 50mln teachers need to be hired in upcoming 10 years and so on. ✔️ It's great that edtechs are acknowledged globally to be the ones to make a huge impact on education.
