  • Do you remember what December felt like as a child? The excitement of waiting for the holidays and gifts? Dressing up as a fox or a snowflake for a school play and learning a little poem to share with Santa Claus for a present? Now, December feels more like a rush of tasks – finishing work, buying gifts, wrapping up the year, and planning for the next. In all this hustle, we often forget the magic we looked forward to so much as kids. But that magic is still possible to bring it back. 🤞🏻 We’re not saying you have to skip setting goals or reflecting on the past year. But if it’s starting to feel more like a chore than something exciting, we’ve got a little gift for you. On our Instagram page, we've launched the "2024 → 2025 New Chapter" project to help. Three experts will guide you through a gentle look back at the year, help you dream and plan for what’s ahead, and reconnect with that little spark of joy from childhood. Each post will include helpful tips and cards to make reflection and goal-setting easier – whether you dive in now or save it for later. And don’t forget to check back for the final post – we have a special surprise for you! • How are you? Do you feel that today’s events in the world make old foundations seem less reliable and connections fall apart? We are launching a series of webinars, "Fragile Connections," designed to guide participants through discussions on topics like the body and care, structural inequality, systems of oppression, and reimagining possible practices of solidarity. Over three months, you will have the opportunity to attend lectures by 12 experts from various fields of social knowledge and geographies, united by a feminist perspective and an interest in exploring both theoretical and practical responses to contemporary challenges. Innovation is one of my core values - I’m passionate about exploring new approaches and finding the best combination of tools that work. This mindset drives my personal career and inspires how I approach mentorship. A weekend of self-reflection is, perhaps, the greatest gift we can give ourselves before crafting our “to-do” lists for the coming year. This post is about my latest experience with group mentoring in our career development program, originally developed by Katia L. this summer. The first cohort of the program was conducted online and spanned six weeks. For the second cohort, I decided to try something new: an offline format, condensed into two days, perfectly timed for the holiday season. Long story short: it was amazing! This time, we received 𝟐𝟖 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, and with the help of my amazing co-host, Ulyana Barysenka, we selected 𝟏𝟒 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 to join us. The goal? To create a weekend of self-reflection - a thoughtful pause before diving into next year’s goals and aspirations. In challenging times, especially during emigration, many of us tend to pour everything into work, leaving little room to reflect on our personal “why.” Adapting to a new routine, managing overwhelming paperwork, and navigating unfamiliar environments can drain our energy and suppress even the idea of self-discovery. Our program aimed to change that narrative. During the workshop, Marina Stasevich guided participants in kickstarting their plans, helping them uncover meaningful goals. Ulyana Barysenka wrapped up the weekend with a session on sketch noting, enabling participants to capture their emotions and experiences creatively. These sketches now serve as beautiful reminders of a transformative weekend. Marina Stasevich and Ulyana Barysenka, thank you so much for your passion and engagement! I'm so happy you were part of this journey. A special shout-out to our 14 amazing, brave ladies, who created such a supportive environment for all of us - it was hard to believe we had only known each other for 10 hours! Ladies, you’re the best! 💕 I wish all your dreams come true very soon! • How long has it been since you asked for a raise? Does the thought of talking to your manager about it make you nervous? If you immediately think you’re not worthy or feel afraid of rejection, you’re not alone. According to surveys, more than half of American and British people fear asking for a raise. As is often the case, women are more likely than men to avoid discussions with management about money. A 2024 Indeed study showed that more than half of women worldwide have never asked for a raise, and 61% of women believe they "need to work harder for a raise than their male colleagues." In our new blog post (link is here: https://lnkd.in/di7dKSbN), we’ve compiled five tips to help you overcome this barrier and prepare for a salary discussion. And for what NOT to do – see our cheat sheet 👇 Women in Tech project is implemented by the Gender Research Center of EHU, with financial support from the European Union. #EUforBelarus #ЕСдляБеларусі #wintech #womenintechbelarus #womenintech

  • Important number of the day – 71% of women feel their achievements are not properly recognised. 💔 Additionally, according to Gallup, only 35% of women in STEM fields believe their accomplishments are valued equally to those of their male colleagues. This may be linked to internal barriers such as imposter syndrome and cultural norms that discourage openly acknowledging achievements (Gallup, "Women in STEM"). Research shows that articulating one’s successes helps advance careers, find more opportunities for professional growth, and increase salaries. Let this be a reminder – acknowledging and expressing your accomplishments is not “bragging” but a necessity for building a confident professional identity, which serves as a foundation for sustainable career growth and overall well-being. 💌 Women in Tech project is implemented by the Gender Research Center of EHU, with financial support from the European Union. #EUforBelarus #ЕСдляБеларусі #wintech #womenintechbelarus #womenintech

  • Mentorship has always been a great way to grow your career. In a one-on-one format, experienced mentors help guide you toward your professional goals. 💪 The group mentoring format in Women in Tech is something new. It started as an idea from three mentors – ALENA, Katia, and Tamara – who wanted to try working together, take on a new challenge, and support other women. In our latest blog post, they shared more about how group mentoring works, what it’s like to organise it, and what makes it special: https://lnkd.in/dbcT_BqU 📌 If you’re in Warsaw, join us on November 30 and December 1 for a group workshop with the mentors. • You’ve probably come across the term “Cultural Fit Interview” during your job search. With technical interviews, things are relatively straightforward – they check if you have the necessary skills for the role and if you can handle the tasks. But with behavioural or values-based interviews, things get a bit more unpredictable. This is when the recruiter tries to understand if your values and approach to work align with the company culture. In this carousel, we’re sharing some questions from a Cultural Fit interview to help you prepare and feel confident. Swipe through 👉 P.S. Remember, you’re also choosing the employer during the interview. If you sense any misalignment, don’t assume it will “just work out.” In the long run, a values mismatch with the company can lead to burnout. If you’re aiming for a healthy, long-term relationship with your job and team, make sure to find out as much as you can during the interview. Prepare your questions, be honest about your expectations, and learn about the opportunities ahead. 💖 Women in Tech project is implemented by the Gender Research Center of EHU, with financial support from the European Union. #EUforBelarus #ЕСдляБеларусі #wintech #womenintechbelarus #womenintech
