🔉 Kick off of the 2025 edition of the Certification course in Financial Law and Regulation by ADA’s University Chair in Financial Law (Inclusive Finance). This year, 27 professionals from 21 different countries 🌏 are participating in this unique course, which complements financial law with topics such as inclusive finance and development policy. ✅ The ADA-coordinated Smallholder Safety Net Upscaling Programme (#SSNUP) commissioned a stakeholder survey following a project by Oikocredit to improve the investment readiness of farmer cooperatives in #Cambodia. During this project, the microfinance institution CHAMROEUN Microfinance Plc. was supported in providing 46 cooperatives with tailored financial products and strengthened business and financial management skills. 16,345 smallholder farmers benefited from additional services from the cooperatives, particularly in terms of market access, input purchases and training. 👉 The survey showed that cooperatives gained improved access to financing while the farmers enjoyed better crop yields: https://lnkd.in/gCkN_eyE 60 Decibels Barbara Rademaker Carlijn Speelman Yannick Milev Paul Surreaux

Stories from the field: The Inspiring Journey of young chocolate makers in Guatemala 🍫 For the three young Matute brothers, the Cacao Embassy journey began in the family kitchen. In 2018, Pablo, the youngest, was organising tourist visits to cocoa farms. To gain farmers’ trust, he purchased cocoa beans but struggled to store them due to their strong smell. This inspired Pablo and his brothers to make chocolate, learning through YouTube and experimenting in their kitchen. Today, they have created their own top-of-the-range chocolate brand Chocolate Sero and offer chocolate processing and branding on behalf of producers. 💡 With the support of ADA's YES-FI programme, they secured financing that enabled them to scale their operations. At the Laos Country Investment Roundtable, ADA’s Programme Manager Lucia Cigana discussed how ADA is supporting the agricultural sector through financial inclusion. She presented the upcoming ICCAP (Inclusive Climate Finance for Vulnerable Communities in the Asia Pacific) project that ADA is implementing with APRACA and SEI — Stockholm Environment Institute to develop green financial products that address the needs of vulnerable communities in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Fiji, Laos and Nepal. The roundtable was organised by the FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (FAO-RAP) and the Asia-Pacific Rural and Agricultural Credit Association (APRACA Secretariat).
