#Steelinaction 🏔️❄️ Did you know that steel plays a key role in your winter sports adventures? ⛷️
From the steel edges of skis and snowboards that ensure perfect grip and control, to the snow chains that keep cars safe on snowy roads.
But even the blades of ice skates are made of hardened steel, providing the necessary sharpness and durability for smooth movements on the ice. And let's not forget the robust construction of ski lifts, such as the Zugspitze cable car and the Val d'Isère ski station. These lifts use strong steel cables and structures to withstand heavy loads and extreme weather conditions.
Even snowmobiles rely on steel frames and components for strength and reliability.
And the best part? Our steel always gets a second life thanks to recycling. ♻️

A splendid head dive!
Manufacturing a formed piece that meets a client's specifications goes far beyond the simple forming operation. A formed part is part of an equipment and shall meet the same requirements as other components (such as shells). The quality of heat treatment is therefore crucial, especially for parts made from steel grades that require water quenching. Industeel heavy forming shop in Saint Chamond is equipped with heat treatment furnaces and a quenching tank (5m deep!) that allow us to treat large parts. We have extensive experience with parts made from steels delivered quenched and tempered.

We’ve sent the first barge shipment of ethanol from our Steelanol plant in Gent!
Our partner LanzaTech took title to the first shipment earlier this month, and the ethanol is en route to be purified and sold to LanzaTech’s CarbonSmartä customers in the fragrance and home care markets.
This milestone marks continued progress in our shared mission to build a robust European supply chain for sustainable ethanol.

At ArcelorMittal, we believe that achieving net zero requires collaboration and innovation at every stage of the value chain. We’re thrilled to showcase the inspiring progress made by our client Dome Solar together with ValEnergies in integrating our low carbon-steel solutions into their photovoltaic installations.
By utilizing recycled steel and renewable energy, we’ve collectively reduced the carbon footprint of this project threefold! With a capacity of 243 kWc in Gradignan, this installation will power 60 to 70 households, an example of impactful and sustainable innovation.

Meet SAM !
At ArcelorMittal, Steel Additive Manufacturing (SAM) is used to keep critical parts working. For example, for sensors that are crucial to controlling our product quality. SAM consistently delivers on process quality and reliability, making it a proactive option for optimisation, not simply a last resort for obsolete parts or supply issues.
The following short video details a case from ArcelorMittal Asturias, (ArcelorMittal Spain), where a new high-precision pyrometer was recently installed. Juan Pablo López Alonso explains how SAM helped create a more precise, durable, and efficient solution, contributing to improved production reliability and maintenance. This is just one of many example applications likely to resonate across many manufacturing industries.
SAM parts are performing in the harshest production conditions enhancing production quality and reliability, boosting productivity and delivering value-in-use.
Contact us to discuss how SAM could improve your operations.
