It's the most wonderful time of the year. 🎄 🎶 ❄️ However, this is also a time of excessive consumption and waste... But it doesn't have to be this way! Greenpeace Luxembourg offers you a chance to turn your desire and ambition to protect nature and the climate into reality. You can do so by supporting us to plant a natural forest in Luxembourg, an entire ecosystem that will help to purify the air, regulate the local temperature and provide a precious refuge for local wildlife. This holiday season, make a gift that leaves no harm to our home ❤️🩹 Follow this link to gift your loved ones a tree in our future #TinyForest 👉 https://buff.ly/3OGB6nK

Nine years ago today, a so called 'landmark climate agreement' was adopted at the UN Climate Change summit in Paris (#COP21) as 195 countries agreed to limit greenhouse gas emissions. Nearly a decade later, we are experiencing the hottest year on record, surpassing pre-industrial temperatures by over 1.5°C. The red line set by the #ParisAgreement has now officially been crossed for the first time, with irreversible impacts already unfolding for humans and #Biodiversity. 🚨 When will our governments finally wake up? Acting on climate cannot wait any longer! #ClimateAction

BREAKING: Shell has backed down in their lawsuit against us! 🙏 In February 2023, Shell launched a multi-million dollar legal action against Greenpeace over a non-violent protest, exposing us to $11 million in damages and legal fees. However, together we showed Shell their bullying tactics won’t intimidate us - and now they’ve backed down and agreed to settle out of court. As part of the agreement, not a penny of our supporters’ money will go to Shell. Instead, we are donating to a charity that saves lives at sea and have agreed to avoid protests at 4 North Sea sites we were not interested in anyway. This settlement has no impact on our campaign plans, and we will continue to fight Big Oil including in the North Sea. People power works - this campaign was fought with the support of thousands of ordinary people against one of the richest companies in the world. This legal battle might be over, but the fight against the fossil fuel industry continues. With Greenpeace facing further lawsuits around the world, we won’t stop campaigning until the fossil fuel industry stops drilling and starts paying for the damage it is causing to people and the planet. #ClimateAction #BigOil #PeoplePower #ClimateJustice

Today, on International Human Rights Day, we are reminded that #ClimateJustice is deeply intertwined with the fight for #HumanRights. At Greenpeace, we stand for a world where everyone, regardless of their background, can live in a healthy and safe environment with access to clean air and water and have the opportunity to thrive. 🌱 Our mission is not just about protecting nature—it's about protecting people, especially the most vulnerable, who are often the first to bear the brunt of environmental destruction. Indigenous communities, workers in extractive industries, and those living in poverty are among the many who face the intersection of human rights abuses and environmental harm. As we continue our fight for climate justice, #Biodiversity preservation, and the protection of ecosystems, we remain committed to advocating for human rights as a cornerstone of our work. 🌍🤝 #InternationalHumanRightsDay #EnvironmentalJustice #ActForClimate

European Commission President von der Leyen and the centre-right EPP present themselves as pro-farmer, but their support for the outdated EU-Mercosur Free Trade Agreement exposes their hypocrisy: the agreement poses a direct threat to EU farmers by increasing cheap imports of beef and poultry from South America, among other agricultural products. More than 5 million farms in the EU have already been lost since 2005, and #Farmers are taking to the streets in a fight for survival. The increasing intensification and industrialisation of the sector has particularly driven out smaller farmers who resisted the pressure to go big. Clearly, the current system only benefits large industrial producers, while small and medium-sized farms are becoming a dying breed. This trade deal could be the final nail in the coffin. Ursula von der Leyen and EPP Group in the European Parliament: Save farms, #StopEUMercosur now!

This is a huge win for #OceanProtection: the Norwegian government stopped #DeepSeaMining in the Arctic! 👏 No licenses will be handed out in 2025! 🚫 This victory comes after more than a year of relentless pressure, advocacy, and hard-fought negotiations. In June 2024, Norway announced the launch of the first licensing round for deep sea mining in Arctic waters, with plans to grant exploitation licenses by early 2025. But due to overwhelming public outcry and strong backing from the Socialist Left party, the government has now agreed to halt the process for at least all of 2025. 🙏 This shows the power of collective action and public pressure in creating real change. 👊 Next step: a global ban on deep sea mining? 👀 #ClimateAction

📢 This morning we announced that we are going to leave the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), following other Greenpeace offices and a growing number of big media and public figures. This decision is driven by our commitment to core values like non-violence, scientific facts, and promoting constructive debates on key issues such as #ClimateChange and #SocialJustice. The platform's recent direction, including the spread of fake news, climate skepticism, hate speech, and the amplification of extreme content through its algorithm, no longer aligns with these values. As such, we refuse to support a platform that undermines the fight for climate and social justice and fails to ensure a safe, ethical space for its users Despite this departure, we remain more committed than ever to protecting the environment. In Luxembourg we will continue to raise awareness of environmental and social issues across other platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Threads or Bluesky. This choice is part of a broader reflection within #Greenpeace globally, with several other Greenpeace offices worldwide also considering leaving X, depending on available alternatives in their respective regions. In the meantime we encourage other organisations, as well as the Luxembourg government, to join us and leave this toxic platform as soon as possible.

✊ 𝑳𝒖𝒙𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒈, 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝑨𝒎𝒂𝒛𝒐𝒏 𝑷𝒂𝒚!
