Impact Finance's Impact Report 2023 is out!! This year's version is a call for simplicity. If you're looking for stunning pictures and vibrant colors, consider a travel catalogue or a geographical review. After all, isn’t the impact report just as important as the financial report? Why don’t “serious people” care about the aesthetics of their financial reports but focus so much on their impact reports?   What does a beautiful picture of the Norwegian fjords tell me about the salmon louse or the salmon mortality rate? What does a child’s smile convey about the struggles their parents face to repay a loan, or whether that child is studying? Pictures don’t say much. Metrics, on the other hand, may be rough and sometimes hard to digest, but the decade-long debate and effort we’ve put into impact investing shouldn’t be reduced to the quality and resolution of pictures. In Peru this week, 2 members of our team Fabián Andrés Martínez Pacheco and Cedric Lombard have visited Ian Hanschke and Eric Hanschke from Seacorp Perú in Sechura. Impact Finance has financed the company between 2014 till 2018, when, after a great 2017-18 production campaign, they were not requiring our working capital anymore! Since then Seacorp has continued its way ahead and became the first Peruvian exporter of sea scallops in 2022. A position it holds since. Seacorp is ASC Certified and maintains its great, sustainable operation.
