Very impressive to see how quickly the automotive industry continues to develop. As a speaker but also as an active listener at the 8th German-Chinese Automobile Congress organized by China International Investment Promotion Agency (Germany), I had the opportunity to experience current developments up close and also to represent my point of view. In addition to electromobility and the associated battery technology, what impressed me most was the potential of digitalization, be it in the area of autonomous driving and related sensor technology, the digital cockpit or the potential for both through AI. In contrast to this my lecture about weatherstrip (rubber seals) on vehicles. A quite traditional business at first glace. But even the best autonomous, fully digital vehicle is no fun if the interior gets wet or is too loud. Therefore concepts for insulation and sealing on vehicles will continue to be needed in the future. So can we sit back? My opinion: a clear no. The way some component suppliers are currently doing shows us how important it is to keep reinventing yourself. To adapt new technologies and be open to new approaches. Only this can strengthen the future viability of a company. I try to achieve this step by step every day with my great team at SaarGummi Neo.
