An inspirational draught is such a relatable thing for any artist, so you need other creative minds to light up the inner flow. In our latest interview, Hemaseh Manawi Rad, an emerging textile artist, shares her top-3 characters that pull her out of her creative block. Here is a glimpse into these figures: Grayson Perry, a contemporary British artist, who works with media such as tapestry, ceramics and printmaking. Perry uses traditional craft techniques to create tapestries that address themes of social class, identity, and consumerism Cécile Verwaaijen, a Dutch artist, whose visual language is clearly tactile and feminine. Cécile masterfully uses textiles to create portraits, abstract and narrative pieces, that reflect her cultural interest and her ability to harmoniously balance textures, fabrics and colors. Lawrence James Bailey — in his work, the Amsterdam based artist focuses on the intersection of urban and suburban areas of the city, protest movements, and history through textiles of different kinds. Lawrence invites to rethink our common notions of beauty, and the human impact on the environment. 👇🏻Check out their artworks in the carousel, and let us know: Who is your go-to artist to be inspired by? 🤫 And remember, you’re just one click away from connecting with artists & curators for your next project. “Not every art piece needs to have a clear answer or resolution. As a conceptual photo artist, some of my most meaningful work has come from going into uncertainty and simply letting the process guide me. Ideas often come during emotional highs or lows, but I don't always act on them immediately. Writing down thoughts or sketching concepts helps me to capture these moments until I have the energy to develop them fully. Research is central to my practice. Whether delving into mental health literature or experimenting with AI, research is a bridge between theory and practice. Sometimes, my work comes naturally from these explorations, while other times, it requires good planning and structure.” — Julia Albrecht, a Berlin-based conceptual photographer, describes her creative process.
