KARAVELA is one of the leading and largest producers of canned fish and preserves in Europe with 140 years of experience in the production of canned fish and other fish products. The company has undergone various changes in its history - both in local and export markets, which has constantly provided motivation to adapt to the situation, change standards and raise quality. The company has a rich history and continuous future plans for development. Quality control In-plant quality control programs ensure continuous control for our fish processing lines providing the highest quality products and taste standards.     👏 KARAVELA is proud and excited to celebrate the achievements of our amazing team members, who have received prestigious awards! Irina Ševeljova, our production director, was awarded with the medal of diligence by the Ministry of Agriculture on November 15. Irina has been part of KARAVELA for an incredible 41 years, working tirelessly to ensure the company’s success and growth. This award is a well-deserved recognition of her dedication and hard work. Thank you, Irina, for everything you do to keep Karavela at the top! Diāna Upīte head of new product development and a food technologist, received the "Young and promising in the industry" award on November 8 at the “Lielais loms 2024” ceremony. The award, presented by the President of Latvia, Edgars Rinkevics, recognizes Diāna’s 10 incredible years of innovation and contribution to Karavela’s growth. We are so proud of her achievements and the impact she has made! 🫶 We are grateful to both Irina and Diāna Upīte for their hard work and passion. Seeing their contributions recognized at a national level is a true honor. As the Minister of Agriculture, Armands Krauze said: “Fisheries have long been a proud tradition in Latvia.     🇱🇻 Karavela’s journey from a small workshop to a European leader in canned fish production has always been closely tied to Latvia’s history. Together, we’ve walked through the highs and lows, hand in hand. Starting out as a manufacturer of metal cans in 1882, Karavela has withstood many trials and winds of change, including the most important one of all – the birth of an independent Latvia in 1918. Only by uniting our hearts, wisdom, and hard work we can achieve great things. This is how we will continue to carry the name of this country, far and wide, ensuring it resonates across the world. Happy 106th birthday, dear Latvia!

Under his leadership, Karavela has grown to become the third-largest canned fish producer in Europe. Karavela’s market leadership is neither a coincidence nor a stroke of luck; it is based on strong market research and competitor analysis. His steady and confident approach to developing and launching new products is the key to Karavela’s success, as every decision is carefully considered and precise. 💬 Jānis admits: “Not every idea succeeds, but when we hit the right moment, we become market leaders for a while.” He emphasizes that product development is not about innovation for innovation’s sake but a necessity to ensure sustainable growth and stability for the company. Markets are constantly changing, and each has its own unique characteristics, which is why some products are specifically designed to fit particular countries. These tailored products have already successfully entered the U.S. and U.K. markets.
