  • Between November 27-29, the first meeting of the Thematic Peer Group on Quality Assurance (TPG C) was held in Ghent, Belgium. Over 40 delegates from EHEA member countries and consultative members came together to discuss pressing topics in Quality Assurance in Higher Education. The meeting provided a platform to explore the work plan adopted by the BFUG for the 2024-2027 period, setting priorities and directions for advancing quality assurance within the EHEA. A significant focus was placed on cross-border quality assurance, emphasizing the need for collaborative approaches to maintain high standards in increasingly internationalized higher education environments. Discussions also highlighted the European Approach for Joint Programmes, aiming to harmonize quality assurance processes for collaborative programs across borders. The role of quality assurance in promoting ethical practices and ensuring academic integrity was highlighted, with an emphasis on its essential contribution to maintaining public trust in higher education. Additionally, the digitalization of quality assurance processes was a key focus, emphasizing the potential of technology to improve the efficiency and transparency of QA agencies' operations. The future reform of the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG) was also on the agenda, underlining the need to modernize them to address contemporary and future challenges in higher education. This meeting reaffirmed the delegates' commitment to fostering collaboration and innovation in quality assurance to support the continued development of the EHEA. We extend our gratitude to the hosts and participants for their insightful contributions and open exchange of ideas. https://lnkd.in/dnC8teC9

This week in Riga , the BFUG thematic peer group meeting centred on key recommendations, including self-certification, short-cycle higher education, and micro-credentials within the context of Qualification Frameworks (QFs). These discussions are laying the groundwork for ongoing dialogue and offering a starting point for countries considering these solutions.
