Over the next five to ten years, Moldova's fruit industry has the potential to expand significantly into high-value markets, including the EU and select markets in the Middle East and Asia. To achieve this, the sector is investing in modernizing infrastructure, improving product traceability, and adopting more modern production practices. In parallel, developing strong branding and marketing strategies will allow Moldovan fruit to be positioned as a premium product on the global market. Moldova has been known as the “Orchard of the Soviet Union”. Now, our country has all the necessary assets to become a new “Orchard of Europe”.
Last year, Moldova exported to UK 460 tonnes of apples, compared to 2022 when no exports were recorded, and 550 tonnes of plums, versus 40 tonnes in 2022, a 14-fold increase.
