Sir Nicholas Slanning, 1st Bt. was born in June 1643.1 He was the son of Sir Nicholas Slanning and Gertrude Bagge.1 He married, firstly, Anne Carteret, daughter of Sir George Carteret, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Carteret, on 4 November 1662.1 He married, secondly, Mary Jenkyn, daughter of James Jenkyn, on 22 June 1670.1 He married, thirdly, Mary Henley on 4 December 1673.1 He married, fourthly, Amy Parker, daughter of Edmund Parker, on 16 November 1679.1 He died in April 1691 at age 47.1
