Position: Network/IP/PBX (Engineer <> Technician) General Summary: Our Network/IP/PBX Technician performs installation service, maintenance, repair, and programming of multi-line TDM/IP based, business voice and computing systems, including key, Hosted and traditional PBX systems, and IP telephony systems. Performs all modifications, moves, adds, changes, and installation of telephone services for all business-based customers, some residential may be included. Technician must be able to work in a professional environment, conduct site surveys and maintain professional appearance and relationship with our existing business customers as well as provide sales leads to the sales team. Essential Job Functions: Include, but not limited to: • Install, program, repair and maintains all phones systems including but not limited to PBX systems including Hosted IP based; and associated equipment, including voicemail and intercom systems. • Install, repair and maintains all types of IP telephony systems, including adds, moves and changes of installed telephone services • Must work in conjunction with other departments for installs, provisioning repair and perform other maintenance duties as necessary. Must have the ability to read records and maps, including billing and central office circuit designs. • Must have the ability to proficiently use, all test equipment related to this position for both fiber and copper-based systems. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • CCNA and other IP/Network Certifications will be considered as priority • Knowledge of basic switching and routing equipment and protocols such as Cisco, --------- • Knowledge of Basic Ethernet • Knowledge of IP addressing scheme, subnetting and how to assign/deploy • Knowledge of DHCP and understanding of how it works • Knowledge of VOIP equipment and concepts • Knowledge of telecommunications equipment operations and maintenance and installation • Knowledge of key, PBX, and IP telephony systems • Skill in operating service equipment including various hand tools and testing equipment • Ability to communicate with co-workers and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner • Ability to pay close attention to detail • Ability to improve or redesign procedures for specific installation/repair problems • Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions using information at hand • Ability to effectively function as a team player Education and Experience: Minimum 4 years of related job knowledge and work experience installing and maintaining electronic key systems, PBX installation and repair, wiring & cabling and associated peripherals or two-year associates degree in a related field. Must have manufacturer’s certificate of training in PBX phone systems or related job knowledge and work experience. Certifications in A+, Network +, Cisco CCNA, BICSI and other manufacture certifications a plus
