  • Hats off to KBZMS General Insurance for standing up for respectful workplaces with their bold declaration: “𝐍𝐨 𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐁𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. 𝐈𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐬 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐨𝐰!” As we commemorate the 16 Days of Activism Campaign this November to December, BCGE proudly delivered a transformative workshop for our Leader Member, KBZMS General Insurance, to promote a more respectful and inclusive workplace culture. Under the visionary leadership of their CEO, U Sai Lu Mon Aung, who joined the whole workshop and participated passionately, the company has taken a significant step toward championing inclusivity and fostering an equitable workplace. As part of their ongoing commitment to fostering positive change, KBZMS General Insurance hosted the "𝐍𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬" workshop, expertly led by BCGE’s Country Director and DEI Thought Leader, Daw Kyawt Kay Thi Win. The session, which gathered Heads of Departments for an engaging in-person experience, focused on the critical role of respect in creating a healthy work environment. Key topics included addressing harassment, bullying, discrimination, sexual harassment, and micro-inequalities, as well as practical steps for both organisations and employees to help build a culture of respect. The workshop also highlighted the essential role of leadership in championing these efforts, with each department head making a personal commitment to combat harassment, bullying, and discrimination within the workplace. One notable activity involved discussing micro-inequalities. Key highlights from the discussion includes preference on addressing names with respectful prefixes like "Ko" or "Ma" before their names regardless of age and positions within organization, expressing appreciation for small gestures with polite communication of “thank you “ “please “ in daily activities.  KBZMS General Insurance, Leader Member of BCGE, recognises that creating a respectful and inclusive work environment is vital for long-term success and is taking decisive action by empowering leaders and employees to act with integrity and respect in every interaction. • We are delighted to share that our Leader Member, Victoria Hospital, under the visionary leadership of the hospital’s CEO and BCGE Board Member, Dr. Daw Aye Aye San, has taken a significant step toward championing inclusivity and fostering an equitable workplace. Victoria Hospital wholeheartedly welcomed the transformative training on “𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩” delivered by the Country Director of BCGE, DEI Thought Leader and Strategist, Daw Kyawt Kay Thi Win. This comprehensive session explored critical topics such as the importance of inclusive leadership, the multifaceted nature of diversity, including social, professional, and generational aspects, and the essential role of equity in organisational culture. Participants engaged in thought-provoking discussions and interactive exercises, tackling key questions like “Is inclusion in my soup?” and delving into cultural competency within the healthcare context. The training also emphasised breaking down barriers to inclusion by addressing unconscious bias, stereotypes, and micro-inequalities while adopting the “CLAS” standard and understanding the eight signature traits of inclusive leadership. • At BCGE, we recently held our quarterly Board of Directors meeting, where we reflected on the significant progress made this quarter and explored strategies for the way forward. A heartfelt thank you to our BoDs for their steadfast dedication and commitment to BCGE’s mission and to advancing workplace gender equality, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). As quoted by Simon Sinek, author and speaker on leadership, “Leadership is not about being in charge. It is about taking care of those in your charge.” Our BoDs’ leadership and vision continue to inspire us as we work toward building more equitable and inclusive workplaces. Our Board of Directors had the pleasure of presenting a special brooch to an exceptional team member who has been with BCGE for over three years. This token of appreciation symbolises not just years of service but also the passion, hard work, and commitment to advancing gender equity and creating inclusive workplaces. As we look ahead, we remain driven by the belief that inclusion isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s the smart thing to do for organisations, communities, and society as a whole. #BCGE #BuildingEquitableAndInclusiveWorkplaces #EmpoweringBusinesses #Diversity #Equity #Inclusion

  • BCGE proudly launched HerBiz, a pioneering initiative designed to support and empower women MSME business owners to reach the next level of success and confidence, back in August. This program is thoughtfully designed to provide a structured learning journey that empowers women business leaders, enhancing their leadership capabilities and equipping them with the essential skills needed to thrive in their businesses. With the invaluable support of our founding member, KBZ Bank, the first cohort of the program kicked off in October with 20 inspiring women MSME business owners. Over four months, these leaders are participating in a series of interactive workshops and personalized coaching sessions to strengthen self-management skills, embrace 21st-century inclusive leadership practices, and grow through authentic conversations and mentorship. Following an impactful November session on Harnessing the Power of Women’s Leadership, led by our Country Director, Daw Kyawt Kay Thi Win, this December brought yet another transformative experience for the participants. The December session, titled “𝟐𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐲 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩: 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩,” is led by our Country Director, DEI Thought Leader and Strategist, encouraging participants to reflect deeply on their personal and professional growth by crafting their own “Old Me” and “The Next Level of Me” models as part of a Self-Leadership Roadmap. These personal reflections will be further refined and discussed with our designated mentors, experienced women leaders from the business landscape, in January 2025. A participant from the session passionately shared, "I have never engaged in such deep leadership self-reflection before. I would love to have more sessions like this, as they are incredibly valuable." Adding to this, the session led by Daw Catherine Hone Paing (Head of DEI), Daw Aye Chan Myae (Senior Leader, DEI), and Daw Mya Hpone Thant (Senior Lead, People & Purpose) explored crucial topics including Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), harassment, bullying, and discrimination. Practical guides on creating respectful workplaces through anti-harassment and non-discrimination strategies were shared, empowering women leaders to lead with confidence and inclusivity. HerBiz exemplifies BCGE’s unwavering commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment in Myanmar’s private sector. By equipping women leaders with the confidence and strategies to lead inclusively, HerBiz contributes to a broader transformation—where women not only rise as leaders but also drive meaningful change within their organizations and communities. Let’s build a more inclusive future where women thrive as leaders!
