  • MILS participated in the Panel Discussion held as part of Myanmar Climate Action Week 2024 On June 28, the 5th day of the Myanmar Climate Action Week 2024 organized by Myanmar Climate Action Network (M-CAN), a panel discussion titled "Private Sector Engagement to Accelerate Climate Action in Myanmar" was held to start a discussion on Private Sector Engagement to address climate change concerns in various sectors of Myanmar. KYAW Thu Htet, CEO of MILS, participated as moderator, and climate change experts and entrepreneurs from private sectors, Mr. Tomo Aoki (Consultant, UN-Habitat Myanmar); Ma Win Mya Mya Aye (Country Director, Turquoise Mountain); Ma May Thu (Director, Golden Dowa Ecosystem Ltd.), Ma Chan Mya Thida Kyaw (Director, Awng Dang Awng Co. Ltd.) and Ko Min Chan Win (Managing Director, Smart Power) participated in the discussion. They exchanged the experiences and challenges they have overcome in their business operations on climate change issues. In addition, they discussed the opportunities and necessary support for the transition towards Green Business. MILS is proud to have the opportunity to participate in the discussion, and we believe that it will be beneficial to build climate resilience in local communities by looking for opportunities to collaborate with stakeholders from the private sector.

  • The final demo day event for the Women Entrepreneurship Program (WEP), The Showcase, was held in Yangon The "Women Entrepreneurship Program," supported by USAID's Feed the Future Burma Agriculture and Food Systems Development Activity, was implemented over eight months by MILS and MYANWEN. Through this program, women entrepreneurs leading in the agriculture and agri-food sectors are expected to gain more business opportunities, enhance local and international networks, and further develop their businesses. The final program of the eight-month-long Women Entrepreneurship Program, The Showcase, will be held on August 5, 2023, at Novotel Hotel Yangon on Pyay Road. Ten of the 65 MSME businesswomen who participated in the eight-month Women Entrepreneurship Program were selected for the final stage and presented their innovative ideas. The following awards were given: - The Most Innovative Business Award went to Ma Khine Thet Wai Thein, Founder & Managing Director of The Nut Butter. - The Most Investable Business Award went to Ma Mya Thae Phyu, Managing Director of Golden Goat Myanmar Co., Ltd. - The Most Responsible Business Award went to Ma May Hnin Wai, Managing Director of Healthy & Happy. - The Most Resilient Business Award went to Ma Nang Kham Htaei, Founder & CEO of NKH (Areca Leaf Products Factory). - The Women Empowerment Award, given by City Mart Holding Company Limited (CMHL), went to Ma Thiri Aung, CEO and Founder of Mudra Myay Co., Ltd.   • Two workshops held in Taunggyi and Mandalay as part of Women Entrepreneurship Program (WEP) The "The Women Entrepreneurship Program for Myanmar Women Entrepreneurs," organized by Myanmar Innovative Life Sciences and the Myanmar Women Entrepreneurs Network (MYANWEN) and supported by USAID Feed The Future, conducted on-ground workshops in Royal Taunggyi Hotel, Taunggyi, and EASE Hotel, Mandalay on July 25 and 28 of 2023, respectively. During the two-day workshops: 1. Fireside chats were conducted with women entrepreneurs in the WEP Program. 2. A panel discussion was held on "Understanding the Systemic Challenges and Exploring Ways to Address Them Urgently." 3. Additionally, experts from various fields shared their insights and discussions. A total of 140 women entrepreneurs attended the two-day event. Through these workshops, women entrepreneurs leading the agricultural sector and food production industry gained a deeper understanding of business opportunities and established more local and international networks.   • Information session to launch Women Entrepreneurship Program (WEP) was held in Yangon with the support of USAID Feed the Future On December 9, 2022, an information session for the "Women Entrepreneurship Program (WEP)," organized by Myanmar Innovative Life Sciences and the Myanmar Women Entrepreneurs Network (MYANWEN) with support from USAID Burma under the Feed the Future Burma Agriculture and Food Systems Development Activity (AFDA) project, implemented by ACDI/VOCA and FHI 360, took place at Novotel Yangon Max. Through the Women Entrepreneurship Program (WEP), Myanmar Innovative Life Sciences aims to empower Myanmar women entrepreneurs by enhancing their business capabilities and providing knowledge in technology, agriculture, and food production sectors.
